If you read the interview that is quoted on the front page, he alludes to the fact that he can be high mileage because of his size. I think we all know that he is an exception to the rule.

You really think Vin spent countless hours up in the office worrying over how to get the dettmans to run halfway decent again? Think again.
As for WI in state guys, Erschen just ran close to 9 minutes at the Badgers intersquad meet. Took him until late outdoors to do that last year.
Look, some kids go to the badgers, others take the safe option. If you don't have the balls to take the chance in the first place, you're not gonna be much of anything anyway.

Any other results?

I kind of agree with what some people say in that it is Coach Newton's job to win championships. However, some coaches prescribe to the theory of getting their runners ready for college, and winning if possible.
What I don't understand about your statement is that most York kids go to college and end up at a program that isn't as good as their high school program. Let's say that Driggs goes to Wisconsin, he will get better coaching at Wisconsin, same with Stanford, Oregon, OSU, most any top program.
Most of them have reached 90-95% potential by the time they hit college due to high intensity in high school.
Have you ever met any of these coaches? Why are you thinking he would get "better coaching" at any of these schools?
Elliot Krause ran 90mpw in hs as well and he's doing quote all right
Becuase hes an idiot, no hating on york but to be so ignorant...

So who are all of the intelligent coaches that have won more state titles?
I wouldn't go so far as to say he's an idiot, but I wouldn't want my son running for him. He also has the advantage of having 200 runners show up for practice. Don't get me wrong, it's great that there is so much interest in the sport, but it's still an advantage.
Like I said, it's his job to win championships, but I think that there should be a balance in there with the athlete's future in mind. Now, the subject of that started this, Driggs, may do great, I hope that he does, but many others have burnt out, broke down, or just never improved much in college. I believe that it's due to such high intensity training being thrust upon young men who are in the middle of their maturation.
Why does he have the advantage of having 200 runners show up at practice? Is York the biggest high school in the U.S.?

You are suggesting that Mick Byrne and other great college coaches are infirior due to the lack of their HIGH SCHOOL STATE Championships?? Thats like calling Usian bolt an infirior runner due to his lack of 5k Olympic medals.
Agian, I am not saying that York is a bad program or that their coach is bad, Im stating that to speculate that he is a better coach than any/many college coaches based on his high school state championship total is ignorant as hell.
bump
Wisconsin got two great throwers for this upcoming season. Favorites to win Big Ten!
Wisconsin looks very good next year. THey've already signed a lot of recruits
If they have signed a lot of recruits why don't you give us some examples, this is why we started this thread!
