i'm not sure if you can access the router configurations since it's a work connection though. as long as the torrent is working i dont think it'll be a big deal if you dont port forward
maybe someone with more knowledge can comment

i'm finish up the marathon video. man, it must've been so crushing for Merga to be passed in the last 300m like that
I put that high on the list of Bekele's best races.
Since he hadn't yet won a title in that event and because of the way he did it - from the front, gradually picking up the pace and turning the screws.
Why did the non-medaling Ethiopians take a victory lap with him?

solidarity? they helped with the pace at the beginning of the race, so i guess it's a small reward.

Go back and watch the end of the marathon. Check out Wanjiru's 40k split (1:59:54). Then look for the 41k marker on the course. He goes by it somewhere around 2:02:07. That's 2:14 for a kilometer when in reality, going at 3:00 per kilometer pace, he ran around .75 kilometers. In other words, the 41km marker was 250 meters closer than it should have been. When did Merga get passed at the very end of the marathon? Around 250m to go in the race. I wonder how Merga would have finished if the sign was in the correct spot.

good eyes!
man, you must be the first person to point this out. it would be interesting to ask Merga if that confused him at all - i assume the runners knew how the marathon course would finish (with 500m on the track), so it's hard for me to sympathize with him on that aspect.
i don't think he could've done much of anything to change the outcome even if he knew because Kebede just did a better job of maintaining his reserves. I really respect Merga for his style of racing though: all or nothing. He did a lot to make it a memorable race.
just check out this article on him after Boston 2009
Merga is candid enough to admit that his uncontrollable desire to race frequently and lead from the front has been his undoing in many races. “I always lose races due to a lack of patience,” he admits. “If a runner is patient enough to stick behind me, wait until I tire, and then take off, I can easily be defeated.”
of course he has the whole thing about top 3 or bust, too....haha, gotta love his attitude.
Please keep seeding the marathon guys! I wasn't able to find a good torrent last night, so I'll have to download those when I get home tonight.

I don't think the outcome was changed. Merga knew Kebede entered the stadium shortly behind him, and he couldn't pick it up, and when Kebede passed Merga couldn't respond at all. He was past his limit.
That's why I like Merga though. He did the same thing at Boston last year.

if you're willing to wait, another poster said he'll upload the 5000m, 10000m, and marathon tomorrow, monday.
you can also try leaving your email so 'oh please' can forward you the 5000m link he uploaded incase the other guy doesn't come thru.
i'm looking forward to getting the link for the 10000m tomorrow myself.
I don't have the 5000 but am hoping whoever does will seed it sometime soon. I would also like the link to the 5000.

I'm hoping he does this. I got the marathon from that torrent, but it won't open for some reason. I tried three different video players on Mac OSX (Quicktime, Divx Player, and VLC which usually opens anything). No luck. Suggestions?
I uploaded a link to the 5000m video:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/imf937
the file is 206mb.
hurry up and get it before someone rats it out (hopefully not)
thanks again to 'oh please' for providing me with the file. i wanted to respect his request to not spread the link he uploaded, so that he can conserve his website's bandwith. thanks again 'oh please'.

it could be that you downloaded only the ".torrent" files and not the actual video files. are you new to torrenting?
if you downloaded the videos completely...
cd1 should be 698 MB (732,510,208 bytes)
cd2 should be 700 MB (734,466,048 bytes)
the ".torrent" files are about 30kb. double check your files.
you might not have downloaded the complete files, maybe thats why they won't play.
also make sure you have the latest version of VLC.
I can play the files just fine in VLC. I don't know what else to say other than to download some codec packs from the internet. VLC SHOULD work though. Are you sure the files are downloaded completely? You can't play video files from a torrent that are only 95% completed. Like vdawg said, they are roughly 698 and 700mb.
The commentary for this race is excellent (as is the quality), so don't ditch the files just yet. The video format is .avi, not some wacky unknown one, so i'm not sure what the problem is.
Thanks for the 5k link, I'm downloading it now.
I'm also jealous that some people were downloading the marathon at 500kb/s, it took me a week to download it!

I know. I use torrents fairly regularly. I have the two large files, but everything I open them with won't work. I'll double check my VLC player. That's usually my go-to for any video files that won't open.

I have the 5k, 10k, and marathon. They will be uploaded by Monday with a link if anyone wants it.
i'm eagerly anticipating this. are the links coming?
