You can spend money and not be a cheeseball. I wanted an original date to impress a girl so I convinced the manager of an indoor inflatable bouncy jump arena to let me rent it for 30 minutes just for me and her.

You don't have to spend money to have fun. Seriously it is a waste of time and money if you go out and spend a lot on a date. You could possibly spend all this money and still not get any poontang. Then you drop your date off at home and she calls her f-buddy who has no job and comes over and bangs her after you spend all your cash on her.
Build her a cake.
Reserve a meeting room at the local Library and give her a Power Point Presentation on why she should have sex with you.
Sure, go ahead and pretend you're having a hard time finding someone to date you because you are "frugal". That's a good denfense tactic to preserve your (nearly non-existant) self esteem.
In my experience, the amount of money you spend on a girl on a first date is directly inversely proportional to your chances to get a second date.

I realize there are some individuals who do put out on the first date and this was most likely how you were conceived-hence your animosity. I am not that girl, but be sure to give your mom a thumbs up for me :)
My friend thinks he's frugal, he's cheap and can't get a date to save his life. His "frugalness" radiates and women won't go near him.
I really don't understand the problem. You should be dating a woman older than you, and she should be paying for everything. You're a sap if you ever open your own wallet.

No! Don't do this. You'll make her feel like a pig when she orders, either that or SHE'll be starving, because being a polite girl she won't order much different than you. Either way, she'll feel bad because she'll know that you are skimping. Better to go to an inexpensive place and get enough to eat. Or, go for a picnic and bring nice food.
There are 7 billion people on this earth; why would I be with someone who makes me pay entirely for the first two dates? Works both ways.
I wouldn't allow a guy to pay for me on a first, second or third date. I always insist on going dutch until in an established realtionship at which point income dictates who pays. I make a good living so i frequently pick up the bill. I have a real problem with guys who refuse to allow me to pay. That's a real turn off!
So I did some research.
I work in an office with all men, I am the only woman who works in the office aside from a couple of secretaries and assistants. The guys with whom I work are professional, young, attractive men. When I asked them, they all said without a doubt they pay of the first date, no questions asked. I have to say, going to work doors are always opened for me, I have never paid for anything (coffee, drinks etc.) and the guys go out of their way to act like gentlemen. This is not because they are trying to get in my pants, it is because they were raised to treat a woman with respect. Why would one person ask out another and then expect them to pay?
This being said, clearly is it a matter of preference. There are plenty of men who would not dream of letting a girl pay on the first date, and clearly, plenty who feel it is necessary the girl pays. Different strokes...

Would they do that for each other? For their fathers? For their brothers? They're not treating you with respect, they're treating you like an invalid, a child, or someone who needs to taken care of. And, like a child, you expect the grown-up to pay for your meals, drive you around, etc. If the men you work with are as young, attractive, and 'professional' (read: wealthy) as you claim, they are paying for girls who are likely very attractive, younger than these men are, and it's not because they respect them. It's because there is an assumed quid pro quo.
Step into the 21st century. Women are equal now, and that means paying your fair share in the dating world.
