THIS is why Wheating won't get into a race that could pull him to a fast time. With 8 lanes his PR would NEVER get him into this (or any similar) races field.
For clarification, I'm assuming those second times are season bests? Not sure what the case is for the 1:49 guy or the no time guy, but several guys are right around 1:45 flat. Perhaps a good agent could make the case that Wheating ran 1:45 on a double and won by a second, not a diamond league meet? Perhaps he could you PRE as an indication that his fitness is only improving?
It's up to his agent (who happens to be a great one) to get him into a fast 800, but it's likely he can find an 800 that goes at least 1:44, that should be better than ones that goes 1:46 and he goes by to win it in 1:45.
Plenty of season left to get in the right races.
Looks like Wheating is now in his second diamond league 800, after placing 4th in his first go.
