WEBB heading west---- Wash Times broke it

Whatever happened to Salazar coaching Begley as his last athlete after his heart attack? He has taken on many athletes since that announcement? Ritz and no Webb has joined his group. I hope they get some individual attention.

He's getting older, body breaking down, needs PT, needs a program. AS will micro manage the entire thing, down to which sock Allen runs in. Raz will be there to assist with travel and allow Allen a friendly face in a new town.

I'd carry Kara's luggage too if I were Adam. Nah cant hate on those 2, they are living the life, flying to Europe, running, relaxing. Gotta be nice. Stressful sure, but come on...its running, my 3 yr old can do it.

I've heard Salazar speak a few times on both running and his faith; say what you want but he is not soulless in my opinion.

This is the most positive thing I've heard about Alan Webb in two years. Salazar will oversee his revival. He will run 3:32-3:33 next year, as long as he meets two conditions:

1. He keeps up with Kara on long runs. If he can't do this, he'll become so demoralized that he will lose all will to train.

2. He drops Raczko completely. As one poster already put it, you can't serve two masters.

My guess is that Salazar will ban Raczko from Portland, or at least put him on the "do not admit" list so the gate guards at Nike can look out for him.

When will the press conference be to officially announce this event and where can we watch it (flotrack, universal sports, runners world etc.)?

While not everyone will succeed at the very highest level, Nike is building a nice powerhouse of US talent. Some of them will win medals in World Championships and Olympics. Rupp, Ritz, Tegankamp, Solinsky, Jager, Webb all training in Oregon...

History will repeat itself. Razcko poisoned Warhurst( whom Webb long term would have been better with). He will do the same with the Oregon situation.Webb is flaky and impressionable. First Oregon wasn't a good fit now it is. Something going to have to give and I don't think AlSal will put up with the behind the seens politicing. Webb won't last a year there.

Salazar wants Webb, who has a muscular upper body, to lose some of his bulk: "He won't touch a weight the first six months. He has to lean out."

serious question here:

How many think that the head honchos at Nike made him choose from among a few select coaches (Alberto, Jerry, Cook) or be dropped from his contract?

I'll tell you what finally happened. Nike said "Alan here is your contract if you stay out there with Razcko and here is your contract if you come to Oregon and work with Al" Allan can do simple math folks. They had enough with his lack of performance and his talent level. So they knew it was time to hit where it hurt. And I aint talking his gimpy hammy.

If he was going to maked a move I would have liked to have seen him join Manzano and reunite with Cook.

It would be easier to adapt to since the training style wouldn't be much different and he would have one the top American milers as a training partner.

And if he wanted to move up in distance Cook did coach Flanagan to an Olympic 10,000m medal.
