Maybe it was Jerry Schumacher's success with Matt Tegenkamp and the move of Ritz to Alberto. All we know is that STEVE NEARMAN got the story today:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/aug/06/webb-leaving-to-train-in-oregon/
I'm sure USA TODAY will have more follow up in tomorrow's print additions, but Steve breaks another one.
As a fellow NOVA runner, this is the move we all have hoped would happen.

EXCELLENT NEWS!!!!!

What was all that talk about him going out there before but it was a bad fit and all that?
I'm curious what role Razcko will play from VA, while Webb's in OR. Also, does anyone find it even a little strange that he would choose Alberto, a guy who has prmarily had success with training 5k/10k-marathon types vs. milers? I know Webb has certainly run some fast 5k and 10k times, but his world level times are in shorter races. I wonder how much his mileage will increase training under Salazar vs. Razcko. I would have thought maybe Schumacher's group over Salazar's.
Oh well, whatever he does, I hope it goes well for him, and we see Alan Webb return to the kind of form he had in 2007. -
Webb had to go out there. Nike is forcing the athletes or they get cut.
-
Does he really have a choice?
Do you think Nike would continue to renew his contract with the way he's been running last two years? -
The article also mentioned that 'It is believed Raczko will have some role in his coaching.' So is he just going to be training with the Portland group, but doing Raczko's workouts while AlSal watches? Or are Salazar and Raczko going to work together to figure out what is best? If you ask me, he just needs to dump Raczko completely, although this is probably the next best thing.

It's about my screen name!

I don't see this ending well. If he was leaving his high school coach behind, maybe. It's like he can't let go of the past. Trying to serve two masters is an unlikely path to success.

You mean to suggest Webb didn't ask you before making this decision? Why on earth not? -
I'd imagine training under Salazar has everything to do with Nike PR - having mile golden boy and 10K golden boy under one roof will be quite big. There's little question he'll run well under Salazar - the attention to detail will be 100%. Salazar's proven without a doubt that he can coach middle distance runners.
-
Raczko's role may simply be reading his training log and calling to say "Wow, you're doing alot better now."

Webb is a 8==============D !!!

No he didn't. Asshole Salazar is out of control. -
It's about time. I would have guessed Schumacher would be a better fit for Webb though. But Salazar is a step up at least.
