Latinos are making they're mark on Distance Running in the Unites States

I'm Latino, I'm not ugly, shit I may be the best looking Latino in the midwest. lol j.k some of those dudes are crazy lookin though.

As for the OP, I do see what you're getting at, in that Latinos are agreed to be the fastest growing ethnic group in the US. It might be that Latino culture, as it can be defined, is less prone to seeing sports as "football/baseball/basketball," although they are making their mark in those three as well.

what the OP was trying to get at is that there are going to be more and more Latino-american runners competing at a high level.

this is good because Latino's, especially Mexicans focus only on baseball,soccer, and boxing.

Mexican runners from Mexico are solid (german silva), but it needs more attention.

maybe if these guys do well it can encourage other latino's to take up the sport where it isnt popular and they can really become a powerhouse.

I personally think that there is a lot of untapped talent all over latin america.

Yet XC is still most likely more than 95% caucasian throughout US High Schools and Universities....and we wonder why US distance running sucks....

The above will come as news to all the black and latino kids that I went to school with in Southern California in the 1950s. You might want to do a little fact checking on your history knowledge, Sherlock.

It didn\'t all happen at the same time everywhere. If you look at the nation as a whole, the laws Taco mentioned weren\'t eliminated until the 60\'s. If you look at specific places, many states never had all of those laws. Do some fact checking before you tell others to check their facts.

Because being anti-illegal immigration doesn\'t automatically make one anti-some-race. Lots of Hispanics are anti-illegal because they see it screwing up their neighborhood/city/state.

The U.S. has always ignored white undocumented aliens. My parents were just out of university, newlyweds, when they flew from Syria to St. Louis in 1990. They have never gone back even until this day. They have been naturalized as American citizens and can vote now. My sisters, brothers and I were born here.

I dont want to call you an idiot (you are), or to antagonize on my black brothers and sisters, but i live in san antonio, on not exactly the best side of the city (a city that has a veryhigh latino population), and my car has been broken into 7 times, and thanks to the hidden security cameras my dad post around the house, we have caught the perps every time, and they all were black. most crime in the country is done by blacks and yet you use your one time experience judge your entire incite as to who are the "intelligent, good hearted, productive people" you chose and write off every brown person you meet as an uninteligent mexican. my entire neighborhood is composed of latinos (not mexicans you arrogant ass),all of which have jobs, are not in debt of anykind, hard working inteligent people. Some of which have two jobs working 80 hours a week without complaint. a great deal of them where illegal at one point. I got into baylor about to grad, my brother got into brown and graduated, and graduated from med school, my eldest sister graduated from harvard, the younger of the two graduated from Yale. My best friend is in columbia, his sister graduated from there. The venezuelan family (who are all friends of mine) are all at duke right now. I know this is not just a neighborhood thing. Perhaps you just stick your head in the durt whenever a brown person opens his/her mouth and says big words that you cant understand. Here is an experience for you, the only time i have been robbed at gun point was by three white guys, and a black guy. And you know what, i dont think all white or black people are crime running idiots.

Good for you and your family and friends. Near my rental poperty in a small northeast city, the latinos are all mainly on welfare and selling drugs. If you look at the local police blotter, the names are all Spanish.
