Dang Latinos have always been a little over the top and way ahead in running. But Fernandez, come on this kid is not of this earth. This Latino is THE GREATEST kid of all time. USA of course. He is a athlete all around also. All I can say is GOD BLESS HIM AND WATCH OVER HIM!

I agree, this is nothing new. There have always been good Latino distance runners in the U.S. If you look at results at some of the major marathons, there are always Spanish names in the top 10. It's just that now we have German breaking all these records and Leonel Manzano making the Olympic team that people get the impression that Latinos are making their mark, but in reality the Latino population has always been well represented in the U.S. distance scene.

i know its nothing new, but its encouraging for other Latino runners probably.

I mean this is probably going to be a growing trend. in 2030 it is projected that 1/3 of the US pop. will be Latino.

this is going to be more common than it was in the past.

its good for distance running.

So are black people not black if they are born in the United States? Are you gonna get on their case for calling themselves black instead of American? Perhaps you feel race is not and has never been an issue?

Hahaahaaaa. That's funny. Greatest of all time. He has to do more than run a couple of fast indoor miles to be the greatest of all time. And since those miles were run on nice, large, 200 meter synthetic tracks in comparison to the old 11 and 12 lap wooden tracks, it's tough to compare some of the old marks. I'd say give him a few years before making any statements about being the best ever. But the post was funny, that's for sure.
