Of course guys who are 35-40 or anyone at any age is going to be cool to hangout with if they have money to shell out at a bar and buy everyone drinks.
The point I'm making is that this guy is unsuccessful and a loser in life and an example that if the only thing we focus on is running instead of our careers, that we will end up like him. Who wants that?
So you pick one guy who hasn't been successful and purvey his issues onto everyone else? That makes no sense at all.
I agree it sounds as if the guy should improve in some aspects of his life, and not necessarily the bars and who he hangs out with part, but to conclude that simply because the guy focused on running that anyone who does the same will fall into the same trap is taking a big leap.
