I will be dedicating my long run today to Ryan Shay. I put a note on the
site asking children to also do this. So thank you for this thread and for the suggestion.
I'm hoping that the Shays will send me some info that they would like my kid visitors to know about Ryan.

Got it in. 45 min through Brookline into Jamaica Pond, around the pond back into Jamaica Plain. Cool, crisp, run for Ryan. Again, sorry to the entire Shay family. I'm at a loss for words...so sorry.
I may go run some more later.
I actually did this yesterday evening. I went out for my usual saturday run, but ran by the high school track and decided to run a mile under 5 mins in honor of Shay. I must admit, even though I didn't know him personally, it was very emotional.
Planned an easy hour (8 miles), but stretched it out to ten miles. Regaled a newer runner with tales of the olden days. Beautiful fall morning.
been feeling like crap/frustrated lately and was going to take a full week off...but i'll start running again today, 8-10 miles out in the country. not sure why a loser like me is still on this planet, so i'll do what i can.
I've been working my way back from a knee injury. I did 14 today and started to fall apart at 12 but the thought of Ryan Shay and his family pulled my through the final 2. God Bless Ryan and his family.
Went out and did a solid 5mi on the Lakefront in Chicago.

I was going to do an easy 10 today but in honor of Ryan Shay I shall hammer out a full 20 mile long run, and I will not even stop to take a crap if the urge hits me.

... like most of us, I had my share of ups and downs this week - some important, some trivial. Then I read about this young man's death last night and, suddenly, they pale quickly into insignificance.
My 13 miles this morning was a great reminder of how bloody lucky we all are today: we're alive and we run.

Just got back from my long run. I had 15 miles planned but did 16. That extra one was for Ryan.
I have a pulled calf, so I couldn't run. So I got on the the stationary bike and cranked out an hour for Ryan.
I shouldn't be running right now with patellar tendinitis. Got out anyway. 2 miles with a group, then 2 miles alone, as hard as I could go, on a trail Ryan would have loved.
I never met Ryan Shay, and I've read nothing but great things about him. I ran my longest run since the Boston Marathon this morning in honor of Ryan Shay. (I've been trying to get over injuries since April.) 15 miles never felt so good.
Today i ran 2 hr and 16 minutes for my long run, I am guessing that Shay would have ran somewhere around that time yesterday...maybe faster maybe slower, but it would be somewhat close.

But I didn't run yesterday and then saw this thread this morning and decided to lace 'em up. I was just going to do a few easy miles but figured I'd throw on my water shoes and hammer a few for him. 4 miles of 1/4 and 1/2 mile intervals around 5K goal pace. Take it easy Ryan.
Not sure how the "But" got there at the beginning of my sentence. Should have just been "I didn't run yesterday..."
Not running much these days, but I'll push 5-6 for Ryan, my thoughts with him.
