Casey Blake was also a pretty good half-miler in high school at Indianola, Iowa. Watched him run some 1:55 relay splits. Everyone knew at the time he had a great future in baseball, but high school baseball's a summer sport in Iowa so he was that rare baseballer who also ran track.
