It seems his method of racing allows for quick recovery. I just checked and he is registerd for NY.

I guess you've got to give him some credit. It must take a good amount of time going thru the maps and plotting out how to cut the course, especially now that it looks like he is trying to go thru all the checkpoints instead of just crossing the start and finish.
Someone should e-mail this thread to the NY marathon organizers, and send them the proof that he's cheated in other 'thons...

And you can't be the one to do this because...?
They are aware. After I posted I took a closer look at all of the posts and on the second page Tom Kelley from the NYC Marathon posted about their methods for spotting and treating cheaters. I hope they put Jurean on their watch list. By the way, I'm having a singlet printed up that will say "William Jurena is a Cheater!"
Why not you? wrote:

I don't know anyone who is helping to organize the race. I doubt they'd look closely at an e-mail from some anonymous (to them) running fan. They probably get hundreds of e-mails a day from people either complaining about NYRRC races, or asking for NYC Marathon entries ("My dog Rex and I have been training real hard...").
Someone who KNOWS someone there would have a better chance to getting some attention. There are plenty of those people readint this board.
He is at it again. No Chip time at Country Music Marathon at the 6 mile or the 13.8 but there is a chip time at 20 mile mark 2:38:04 finish time 3:18. The amazing thing to me is that he continues to use the same name as he did in 2003. I wonder what it is he's trying to prove?
The guy lives in Duluth, GA. I would think the Atlanta Track Club would expose this guy. When you look at his 2004 races he does place in the top 5 in some of his races but there are missing chip times...what the hell?
I ran the Country Music Marathon in 2005 and was in the
same age group as the subject. A few days after the race
i scanned their website and noticed that a guy in my time
group did such and such time and received a very small amount of money.
A couple of months passed and I checked the website again. There was no mention of the 50-54 male winner. No explanation, nothing. I do not recall if it was Jurena or some other runner, but for some reason the CMM seems to want to let sleeping dogs lie.
How much nerve do you have to have to keep doing this after you've been called out for three years? (He did it at Chicago this year - see the other thread.)
I'll have to keep an eye out for this guy at the local races here in Atlanta! Never heard of him before today. That's funny about the CMM...I ran the half and recall that the 10k marker is on the "back" portion of an "out and back" part of the course, so he very easily could have passed the 5k chip scanner than turned around and joined the crowd (who had already crossed the 10k pad) heading the other way. I'm sure in his mind there is a perfectly rational and reasonable explanation for why he has to cut the course, but he must me mental.
I'll be down at the Marine Corp marathon this weekend but it doesnt look like hes running...too bad. I did notice though in the NYC entrant database it now has him at age 55...
Looks like he relocates alot. And improves a lot. Look at this time from 1996. I wish I still lived in Atlanta so I could "bump" into him at a local race.

2004 Winners - Half Marathon Grand Master's !!
http://www.seasidehalfmarathon.com/Race%20Results.html
It says he ran a 1:26 half !!
I wonder if there was prize $$ in this race ??
What a tool this guy is
Here's the link to this years CHicago Marathon results:
Scroll to the bottom. It Lists that he ran 3:10
I bet the guy who came in second in the age group cares.
I honestly do not understand why you would cheat in a marathon. There can not be any sense of accomplishment in it and for most of us we are racing against ourselves, not to win the race.
In addition, a lot of runners do look at the splits of other runners in their age groups or those that finished around them. It does not take much knowledge to figure out if the guy who beat you cheated. Even if you do not get a DQ, I would hate to have the reputation of a cheater.
Better by far a 4 hour marathoner than a 3:10 cheater.
Someone's gotta follow this guy at NY with a camera and post all the pics here. It would be fascinating to know how he does it. This would make a great journalistic piece. I bet he cheats on his wife too.
Just checked the 2005 Country Music Marathon results. He was not in the top three, so he can't be the imposter that originally considered the male 50-54 winner.
However, this is the data:
time: 3:18:17
pace: 7:33 per mile
6 mile: blank
13.8 mile: blank
20 mile: 2:38:04
That would mean he ran the last 6.2 in 39:47 which is about a 6:26 per mile pace.
Okay, I'm ready to pile on now.
I'm from Atlanta too, but it it a bigger town than a lot of you think. Never seen or heard of him before today.

That's it, I am coming back, 1st get this guy and then to make the town a bit warmer and smaller.
Frankly my dear.....I don't give a damn.
