HAH! exactly my thoughts. Poor kid, doesn't know what's good for him. Thinks he'll destroy the world record by a minute in the 5k when he's ripe. Problem is, he'll never make it there.

What's with the constant harrassment of Dyestat figures on this site?

Dyestat has been great for HS running and for the overall promotion of the sport at the HS level.

I merely responded to the poster who was so sure it was exactly 5000meters by saying it's possible to run the course so it comes up short (albeit only a few seconds). That doesn't mean I didn't find it to be a great performance. It is most definitely an impressive time/effort.

Thank you all for your insightful and caring comments about this 13 year-old runner. Once again, someone puts up a little post about a relatively young/fast kid, and all the well-wishers come out of the woodwork to say only warm supportive things about the kid's potential (and also taking time to thank whoever certified the course, so we all know its accurate to the f!@#$%in' millimeter).

Why are all of you crushing a 13 year old boy who I happen to be teamates and good friends with. I hope Mark never has to read all the things that have been said about him and his dad.

Here are the results from the race in case none of you nuckle heads believe it. Also I wish the kid the best of luck in the future and hope that he doesn't burn out by the time he is 14 years old.

You think the increased knowledge of competition, awareness of meets, and variety of training information has had a negative effect?

His dad just wants him to succeed in life just like all his other children have. He pushes them because I love em. Y'all on LetsRun are tough on parents who really want the best for they kids. Give this guy a break and let his kids run cause they love it.

if he wanted the best for him he'd let him make his own decisions like my parents did.

He looks like an old 7th grader he could have been held back a couple of years...or he could have already hit his growth spurt.

I Run with Mark, and im putting some of this stuff to rest.

He is a legit 7th grader, 13 like the rest of us were.

No, he isnt doping, who ever brought that up.

His Dad is a training freak, but he wont be what burns him out. His Dad is tough but he isnt stupid.

He is reaching his current peak, but as he gets older you can count on his times to still drop. Everyones times do. Its just simple knowledge of as you get older, the more muscle you'll have and the more serious you'll be about competing.

Lastly, is he a amazing runner, yes. Is he going to be the next Pre and change the world of running, probably not.
