Boring.

The report that Jakob Ingebrigtsen is joining the University of Oregon to compete in the NCAA is an April Fools' joke.
The story was published by LetsRun.com on April 1, 2026, as part of their annual tradition of satirical holiday "news". While the article included specific details—such as a fictional press release, an NIL deal, and the NCAA "green-lighting" his eligibility as a redshirt senior—it is not true.
Key Facts of the Current Situation: In reality, Jakob Ingebrigtsen is a professional athlete recovering from surgery:
Medical Recovery: He underwent surgery on his left Achilles tendon in February 2026 in Palo Alto, California.
2026 Goals: Rather than collegiate competition, his actual stated goals for the 2026
season include targeting world records in the 1500m, mile, and 5000m once he returns to full health.
Competition Status: As of March 18, 2026, he had recently returned to light training, running approximately 8km with high school students while still in California for his rehabilitation.

I'm dead serious is saying I think Cooper Lutkenhause should consider trying t. he NCAA. His coach is very close with Ryan van Hoy, the Cal Poly coach. If I was him, I'd want the college experience.
Even if he doesn't compete in the NCAA, I think Cooper should go to college. Running doesnt' take up that much time. Weldon and I started letsrun as we quit are jobs for 6 months to get him ready for the 2000 US Olympic Trials. Running was taking up what a max of 3-4 hours?
What were we going to do the rest of the time?
You don't want to sit around and obsess over yourself or social media all day.
Studying is a stress added onto a running schedule. To be pro is to be paid not only to train and race but also to be able to rest. He can study when he's 30. If he wants to. Or he could go into coaching, commentary and or forum admin.

In other strange news I heard Jesus signed on to run with Duke.
When he moved to Durham he had to go door to door to tell everyone he was a pederast.
lol if this were actually real NCAA would break overnight, no way Jakob trades Diamond League money and control for college racing just like that, especially coming off an Achilles issue. also “eligible immediately” sounds like fantasy land, NCAA red tape alone would drag this for months. fun chaos post tho, had me double checking for a second.
Thanks for April Fools page - great!!!
Top level Strand last year closed a 3:47 1500 in 12 flat/24.x, so Jakob would have to make the race fast, which he would.
None got me on April 1.
This would have been more credible if it had been BYU. First Lasse Viren and then Jakob Ingebrigtsen, and Jakob would blend in age wise.
