Feel free to email me to discuss any moderation issues. We've made some good progress from email in this thread.mailto:wejo@letsrun.com
This thread went off the rails a bit with 1 particular poster hijacking it and trying to make it about one moderator so we have locked it.
Before I give my takeaways, if you have concerns about moderating, or posts, please report them or email me directly. We make it very easy to be heard at LetsRun.com and reach us. But if you sidetrack threads by discussing moderation, those posts will be removed and can lead to temporary bans as they ruin the discussion for everyone else.
But some takeaways. 1) Dealing with the problematic posters/troublemakers isn't easy but we need to make sure in dealing with them we do not go too far and harm the experience for other posters 2) The filters often flag people by accident. Exempt SC members from the filters at the very least. 3) Consider creating a toggle so people don't have to see "this post was deleted in a thread". In the posts where the trouble makers try and takeover, these notifications start to ruin the experience. 4) Consider moving some posts out of the main forum. 5) Look at limiting how often people can post in a thread. 6) Try and get a better handle on the use of VPNs by people posting, reporting posts, upvoting, etc. 7) I will actively monitor all of malmo's moderating and posts for the next week and give him feedback. We already actively communicate but some of your points and emails were helpful.
Instead of having one ongoing thread about moderation or tips to improve the forum, we should have a thread once a month discussing the forum for a few days. Have a nice discussion, then we'll lock the thread and do the same thing next month.
As always, we say the best way to get immediate feedback is to email us, but we're even reachable by phone.
This thread will be open at least through Friday. My email is
From my big-picture perspective (which is biased because i spend a lot of time dealing with bans etc) the things that bug me the most are: 1)The true troublemakers 2) The people who personally attack other posters and/or moderators 3) Spammers (but I'm putting those in the true troublemakers category)
But I see the same people creating problems, attacking each other, etc.
It really brings down the level of discussion. Disagree with someone's ideas, not them personally, is the way I see it.
Here’s a problem that I would like a certain nod to address directly and not passive aggressively: this mod deleting any post he doesn’t like and then banning that poster
Plus: the running threads only is working better, me thinks.
Minus:
a) Army and reckie still turn too many running threads into a doping-doesnt-work/everybody-dopes thread.
b) The mods still act like moody kings.
Suggestions:
a) Ban those two trolls, or at least lock them up in a doping-doesnt-work/everybody-dopes thread. Or allow each user only 3 posts max per page - then those two can't continue forever anywhere.
b) Fire a mod if you ever have to restore more than 2 posts said mod deleted in just one day.
The biggest whiners are non-registered. Your call on how much anons matter in this feedback.
Registered spammers are an issue. Any user who has over 5 comments per page is a spammer, period. Especially when they do it routinely. Topic irrelevant.
Where are the 2025 user rankings? You did them for 2024 a year ago this month.
Some of us had registered handles that we used for many years only to be banned by capricious moderators. It's easier to use anonymous names rather than jump through hoops to get reinstated, only to be banned again by moderators that have it out for you.

As someone that likes to give thoughtful responses but also likes to troll at times, the latter posts would be reduced considerably if I were required to register.
My fear is that if everyone were required to register, an enormous number of posts would go away, including some of the more fun and interesting ones.
I told Wejo and Rojo that if this certain mod didn’t stop banning me for nothing( and sends me targeted messages in the “reason why”) then I would just get a VPN and just post the most vile sh*t 24/7

Registered users can’t be more fun and interesting?
If you are going to allow such discussions, then they should be allowed to happen without moderators deleting and banning because it conflicts with their personal views. Full stop.
If someone slanders, attacks another poster, posts knowingly false information, chucks out cut-and-paste talking points, or derails the thread, then the LRC moderation rules apply. I think that we have all seen some good threads about politics and economics get deleted out of nowhere because someone with the power to do it got offended or their bubble pierced.
I think the biggest issue is that you often consider honest criticism of moderators as "personal attacks" and ban users for pointing them out, even on threads like these when it is openly asked for.
I understand not wanting to have those kind of tedious mod callouts on every thread, but when you open up threads like this for example, you should NOT ban people for pointing out well known long term issues with some of the most prominent mods and owners of this site.
It comes off as saying "tell us how we can improve" then banning people for giving honest answers. Very Trumpian. Dishonest and reveals that there is little to no real intention of self-evaluation.
Until you realize that some of the 'real trouble makers' are on the mod side, the site will continue to earn it's long standing reputation as the on-line cess pit of the running world..

You started this last year too, did it for a few months then stopped.
Just like you started the monthly challenge thread and then did nothing
Just like you started the post/poster of the month thing for a bit and then stopped
Why should we believe anything from you two?
Another Classsic Letsrun move. As I said, nothing will change.

No, registered users are almost always more conservative and guarded in their views. Especially on a site like this, in which the wrong move can get you banned. No, I would never want this site to force registration for posting.
lol stopped visiting this site years ago because of how bad a certain mod was.
stopped in a couple times this week and saw this mod thread........hilarious to see that after posting my own response to wejo, i looked at the pages of prior responses and realized 95% seem like a cut and post of my own response. I swear i didn't read the thread before posting.
Just look at the posts and upvote ratio. everyone agrees. three pages of the exact same responses. There is a mod prob on your site.. No if's ands or buts about it.
