So I think we can now conclusively nix the idea that "ducking" anyone (either from Hoey or his rivals) was at play.
Hoey wants the WR and that's really tough to do in a competitive race indoors and I'd doubt that Brazier, Hoppel et al really want to be in a sub 1.43 tempo 800m burn up in their first races of the season.
This actually works out great - we get to see a great 600m with some of the worlds best and we get to see Hoey run himself into oblivion (and you know he will) chasing the 800m mark.
Buuuut that being said it's a damn hard record. I think you see him on pace for the first 600 but his mechanics catching up with him in that last lap. I think he will become the second man to ever break 1.43.0 indoors but he'll miss the record - give me 1.42.94 as the prediction.
