So he's not some amazing cross country runner. If he were in Tallahassee, I think he would have been battling for a top ten placing, but not close to medals.
Almgren didnt do any race prep sessions before european cross. He mentioned that he would have finished second after Ingebrigtsen if he had prepared for the race. If he had done two or three sessions getting used to running above threshold, that race would have looked very different. But it is true that he is better on the track/road than in cross country.
Here's the thing. US has World Cup and Olympics coming up. If Trump keeps going with all the invasions and racism, these will be the last big sporting tournaments they have for a long while.
Not to mention how many legit athletes won't get into Olympics on immigration grounds.

I predicted out of that workout his time should be 26:30- 26:40 , so I was pretty close.

I see you don't have the knowledge background of his career? . Already when he was age 17 I chat with him a couple of times and told him he would have a good chance to become a world top runner. He has same appearance and stride like Sweden's former world record holder Gunder Hägg. Unfortunately back then when Almgren was young he did too much very fast intervals/ repetitions and so on and a couple of really nasty injuries came that almost put an end to his running career. Saved by injuries at last healed and changed his training to the Norwegian double threshold method we now see luckily this very talented great Swede now at age soon 31 has transformed to a world beater. I won't get surprised if we even will see 1 or 2 world records will pop up from this Swedish Viking with the beautiful effective stride. 🇸🇪🧙♂️🇸🇪
