    My countryman 🇸🇪Andreas Almgren, bronze medal 10000m in WC, is the winner of 2026 Valencia 10 k in a new European record 26:43 .

    I was among the many people thought he was gonna win the race after his " monster workout" some days before the race and 10 x 1000m @ average 2:31-2:32 min and last rep 2:28 !

    I predicted out of that workout his time should be 26:30- 26:40 , so I was pretty close.

    Big congrats to Almgren ! Swedish power 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🧙‍♂️

    very impressive performance. Had he been at Tallahassee yesterday, he definitely would have medaled.

    The day before race he had 6 k easy run @ 3:30 per km average pace ( !) , pulse 134 !!

    He could have won Antonio Brown's prestigious Cracker of the Day award if he'd run World CC. Oh well, gotta do it for the money because everyone is such a hooker for that cash in the matrix, baby.

    The US has always been scary with the free flowing gun situation but now also with the added ice danger where school bullies have been given the right to kill for no good reason in the name of the president. Great guys keep it up. Only an idiot would travel there voluntarily these days.

    Not to mention how many legit athletes won't get into Olympics on immigration grounds.

    True for the 2026 World Cup. Trump’s buddy Infantino bribed with him some glittering goodies and an absurd FIFA peace prize to secure entry for the football teams.

    Ironically, the US Embassy in Ethiopia website is advertising the "FIFA World Cup 26™ [which] will showcase the beauty, greatness, and dynamism of America" with plenty of "plan your trip" advices (Ethiopia hasn’t qualified), while barring entry to Ethiopian athletes for the XC world championships.

    I’m much less optimistic about the 2028 Olympics.

    Sixth all time in the road 10k for Almgren, I have a hard time comprehending that a runner from my country is putting up times like these

    If only he had started focusing on the longer distances earlier in his career

    Debatable. 4th place has run 26:45 on a track. 5th was a couple tenths behind Almgren in Tokyo. Almgren is less seasoned than both in XC, so you’re assuming he translates as well or better than those two who were silver and gold at the U20 level in Juniors. I’d say he’s more likely to be near Thierry than medal.

    Yes, he valued his continental Road 10K record over XC honors at European/World Champs. It’s fine, and has nothing to do with visas. Will he do World Indoors, Barcelona Half from here? Those will be tougher fields.
