Part of the reason he's running over lines is because his hulk of a teammate was hanging over into his lane. It's harder to run fast around right turns. Have any of y'all even sprinted around a tight turn? Sprinting indoors?
1. Baloney. His teammate isn't close to him. You're just lying.
2. Nobody said it's easy. That's EXACTLY THE POINT and why it is an advantage to not be follow rules (aka cheating).
QW takes MULTIPLE steps inside the line with his left foot, and, amazingly, with his RIGHT foot. Look at this.
That was a sloppy piece of garbage and he and his coach should be appalled at that race. His coach needs to request a DQ and coach this guy to be able to run in his lane. Much bigger guys, going a whole lot faster in a 200m are able to stay in their lanes, even under pressure from big guys inside and outside them. His entire body was in the inside lane at one point. Ridiculous that this is not a DQ.
As the only ever active high school track athlete with an Olympic gold medal, he shouldn’t be producing garbage races like this one. A clean performance a second slower would have been a better performance. He looked liked some dude on the wrestling team sprinting in flip flops.
Surprising. At 2:10 of the linked video, he is all the way past the line with his right foot on one step, and has several others where a lot of the foot is on the wrong side of the line.
Absolutely a DQ - he runs at least 3 steps on the inside line even crossing it at least twice. I know it’s not the US indoor trials but the time can’t be valid because of that so it really is a simple DQ?
If you watch the entire race he is just all over his lane. He comes off those corners so out of control he has to overcorrect and that’s what sets him off.
Is it still 3 steps in HS? I found out to my great surprise last year that at least in California, it is 5 steps.
This is like the second or third time I've seen him violate a lane (yet he's never gotten DQ'd for it). I think the last was against Jayden Horton Mims and he didn't win either.
Also, I don't understand how QW can barely break 22.00 for 200m yet is a 44.1 guy. He ran 21.73 at this same meet.
He's run 21.0 during buildup outdoors last year, and ran 21.0 indoor last year as well. Realistically he's probably a 20.7 guy in peak shape.
Very sloppy and poorly coached. Those lane violations will get an entire relay team DQed. Multiple steps out of his lane. That time shouldn’t be ratified and the lane officials need better training.
They better not have him lead off a 4x4 that's for sure.
They aren’t going to disqualify Quincy freakin Wilson for something like that. They are just happy and see it as a blessing to have him and Bullis there each year. Kid has reached legendary status. They aren’t going to treat him like any other runner at a damn high school meet, get real. And thats life, it ain't fare.
Gotta be one of the worst lane violations I’ve ever seen.
and god. His form is horrific. I thought they’d sort that out his last couples years of HS, but it looks even worse than when I first noticed his weird arm drag as a sophomore sensation. He has some of the worst biomechanics and fundamentals I’ve ever seen. It’s a miracle he’s able to run 44.10 with that form.
if he ever wants to break the WR he absolutely needs to sort out his form and use his arms to drive.
Yes, because using his legs to drive didn't work out so well for Cary Grant in Topper.
quote: "And he a) looked good doing it b) ran in his lane so technically won that race"
If you look at the video at 2:09-2:10 you can see QW's teammate stepping on or over the line for 5 consecutive steps. So he didn't run in his lane the whole way either.
Not really sure what everyone is seeing regarding the trashing of his form to be honest. Yes, he's leaning back as always, but his arm swing actually looks more put together than it did in previous seasons as opposed to the wild Nigel Amos flailing from before. Not that I think arm swing particularly matters much anyway.

True, but what happens when they decide to call the dq? running fast is great but it gets to a point before you need basic, good form instead of charging out there. You can see his form gets worse with fatigue and he begins to tense and lock up. That can cause injury or a poor race. Especially since he has the tendency to lean back a bit. And when you lean back you put a lot of load on your hamstrings. Your body isn't stacked over your hips so you cant recover them back underneath you to push. So you're essentially pulling your self foward. I have a number of kids on my team that have improved simply by correcting their form.
