What mockery did he make, failing to qualify for indoors because a 16 yo ran 1:42? Or beating his high school PR by 5 seconds after getting his first consistent 18 months of training in?
You're last sentence is the most Letsurn of all time. If you NEED it, then yes you won't be successful without access to it (whatever that need happens to be).
You see what you want to see I guess, I see it completely different. It is less about what training he does and more about what his dad can allow him to have access to. You have your own track during Covid, you have your own property in Flag to get altitude, you have access to the lactate testing strips which ARE NOT CHEAP. If anything advantage is up for purchase he had it, not like some pros who have small contracts that don't really give them much to work with. The daddy's money thing is just annoying, am I jealous? Absolutely. Josh's story is more about what can dad buy vs I worked hard and had a breakthrough. That's what his story reads like to me. Mind you, THIS IS JUST MY OPINION NOT FACT.
This is the story of this generation of many track and field athletes. Who do you think paid for all those pole vault poles Mondo was using from a young age? Who was paying for him to travel around when he was breaking all those age group records? Same with the Ingebrigtsen boys.

And none of those perks that his family provides makes one an elite 800m runner. Are they nice? Yes. Do they shave 5 seconds off your PR and immediately catapult you to top-tier elite status in a year? No.
No base phase or downtime? No problem! I have my own track, so of course I don't need downtime!
I was a 29:05 10,000m runner in college and ran 1:19 for the 600m and 1:03 in the 500m. I don't see any reason why Josh Joey can't run at least 1:13 in the 600m especially with his range and speed.

Can Hoey run 73 seconds for 600m? I've seen him do it as part of a workout (1.13.5) The workout was the 600, short rest 200. Then 3x300 and 4x200.
I look at it this way, if Brazier ran 1.13.7 (obviously indoors) then Josh Hoey can obliterate that. Brazier, even under Pete Julian, was far more measured/less intense about these sorts of efforts off season. So if he can do that off talent and winter training then Hoey can go much faster with his talent, maniacal drive and a training schedule more suited to being in race shape 90% of the year.
I would bet the house that he's really eyeing the 73.0 barrier for this one and honestly, I think he will actually looking at the 1.12.81 of Gray as achievable. A 47.5 quarter and then holding on for dear life.
Btw 29.05 for 10000m and a 63 second 500m? That is incredibly impressive. 50.0 for the 400m split in that one? With that endurance you were capable of something way under 1:19 for 600m (closer to 1.16.0 tbh). Nice.
Hoey is a pretty blatant doper and is the poster boy for a lot of what is wrong with the sport. Who cares what he does?
I care. It's an interesting experiment of a long-time clean athlete who suddenly starts to, umm, eat right and to sit-ups and box jumps. Like Radcliffe, Farah, Hassan, Houlihan, Katir. Quite fascinating, actually. Too bad that none of them will ever write an honest book about it.
I am absolutely a hater. It’s not fun watching a guy who was literally mid make a mockery of the sport. On top of that it creates a narrative that you’re only going to be good if you have access to everything you need.
Proofread, please. Also, stop confusing Hoey with Wanyonyi, whose coach (Berardelli) has at least six athletes under suspension, and no doubt his chemical aids (and Wanyonyi being a high responder) allow Wanyonyi to maintain a peak for months at a time, and to re-accelerate with 10 - 25 meters to go in 800m races. Talk about mockery….

Open your eyes everyone.
Open your eyes regarding an 800m runner who battled mental troubles for three years (while claiming physical problems), who supposedly sat around all that time and began training in March of ‘25, and by June was running 1:44 and by Sept a PR 1:42 low. 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆Open YOUR eyes.

Sorry my internet rage really hindered my spelling. I’ll think of you next time I go to post a rant.
