I agree it's not impressive as anyone can complete a marathon.
I've seen a few runners running around 2:40 on low mileage. To me that is impressive.
Impressiveness, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder.

If running a marathon isn't that impressive for you personally, no big deal, I understand. Then the question would be, what specifically will you accomplish in your lifetime that you will find personally satisfying and give you that sense of accomplishment? And of course it doesn't have to be running related, but do let us know. Because it's certainly easy to belittle something others find to be worth their time and effort, even if you don't. Much harder to put something out there so we can then judge if it's impressive or not.
Any takers on that challenge? Lord knows this website will still be around in 20 years looking exactly the same. So go ahead and start a thread about it. We can check back in.
What's impressive to me is being able to consistently follow a dedicated training plan over several months, even years and then executing on race day - RACING to maximize every last bit of performance to the best of your ability. Crossing the finish line knowing you gave it absolutely everything... no matter whether that results in a 2:15 or a 3:15.
That takes discipline, and deserves respect. Signing up for a marathon and jogging it after you half a$$ed 6 weeks of training where your weekly mileage barely exceeds the total race distance is disrespectful to the marathon and insulting to a competitive runner's mentality.
