This is just Valby's second race as a pro -- and her first since February. First race for Elle St. Pierre since the 2024 Olympics (she gave birth to baby #2 in May 2025).
Let's hope these women are using this as a tuneup for the USA XC champs on December 6. Roe-Kelati-Monson-ESP-Valby-Tuohy would make for a fun XC champs. Kudos to NYRR for getting them all to line up on the roads against each other!
You seem to be forgetting a certain 5k/10k Olympic finalist who won 2016 NCAA XC the year ESP was 7th…
well it is "good" to see the raving morons on Lets Run are still crawling out from under their mommy's couch in the basement long enough to post some assinine verbiage having something to do with everyone with 2 legs being a doper...you troglodytes do know the world is laughing at you...but keep it up, I guess, since there is nothing else you are qualified to do.
NB runners are contractually obligated to be there. Wouldn't expect much of a race out of any or all of them. Wouldn't be surprised to see a DNS for Valby, maybe others.
Zero chance she DNS. That would fuel the speculation even more. She would have to be a complete moron.

Very cool... ESP and Valby are technically still teammates as far as I know, so hopefully this means they are getting along well. It will also be fun to see how far Monson has progressed since the trials.
If Valby lines up, I am guessing she will impress. She doesn't seem interested in racing when she is out of form.
It’s somewhat predictable. Assuming Valby is in shape, she will try to gap the field from the start, and we’ll see who decides to stay with her. There are several in that field who won’t be able to, and will be out of contention early. I don’t think she’ll win the race, though. I’ll say she manages a top 3 finish. The wild card is ESP. What kind of shape is she in?

What gives you the impression that she wouldn’t run if she’s not in good form? Whatever she runs will be her starting point and there’s nothing to lose.
