I was shocked to see Ryan Hall looking like a skinny marathoner again when the last time I saw photos of him, he was super muscular from his bodybuilding.
Here is Ryan Hall from April 20, 2024 with pecs and arms bigger than a bear, and with all that muscle would have had trouble running:
And now here is Ryan Hall recently on Oct 1, 2025 looking like a skinny marathoner again and actually running instead of lifting dumbbells and weights for his videos. His Instagram post says he now weighs 167 pounds and talking about "loving the lightness (just 35 grams)" of his Suunto watch. No muscle obsessed bodybuilder would praise how light a running watch is:
Prosperity theology (sometimes referred to as the prosperity gospel, the health and wealth gospel, the gospel of success, seed-faith gospel, Faith movement, or Word of Faith movement) is a belief among some Charismatic Christ...
I'm always curious what do these former runners do for money? They never seem to have jobs. I mean what is his income source now? Just sponsorships or something?

Isn't he a coach..Higher Running or Run Free etc...? That can't pay much though. Although, i guess we don't know, maybe he has 100 clients online at 300 clams a month? Certainly plenty of people with money to have a legend coach them online.
Was he geared up in the 2024 pic where he looks like a monster? 🤔
Nah, he just ate some extra chicken at dinner and made sure he was doing at least one pull day and one push day a week and within 4-5 weeks he was a professional wrestler
So, he was geared up then? If so, what was taking since you claim to know so much about this?

The comparisons you provide make it very hard to assess much.. The first photo has him with his shirt off and the second photo/video has him wearing a hoodie. Have you ever seen someone who you know is muscular wear a large t-shirt or shirt? Impossible to know what their physique is like underneath. Often people in that situation will get comments from others like “do you even lift?”
Ryan Hall goes all-in on whatever he is doing. He is extremely driven and focused on what he is trying to achieve. This naturally leads to some extremes that most people would never experience, but it is also how you achieve great things that most people would never experience. I am very different in that I enjoy being a jack of all trades, but I am the same in that I try to be great at that (be very good at a lot of things, which is a lot of work). But I do appreciate Hall's focus and drive. I wish more people were like him, and I hate to see lazy people criticize him for it
I'm surprised to see so many people dislike this comment, because it's spot on. The lack of self awareness among those people who think running 100mpw is totally healthy and normal but lifting weights to the extreme is somehow over the line is amazing. You're two different sides of the same coin. So go ahead and look down on him for his post running life, all the normies out there don't see a distinction without a difference between you and him.

When Hall was super muscular last year, he took every opportunity available to take his shirt off. Now that he is covering up his pecs again tells you a lot
Whatever his size, he's big on vanity selfies. Seems in conflict with the Christian virtue of humility.
By Instagram standards he’s not that bad. Compared to Liz Clor he’s a Nun.
Checking out his page seems like he’s gonna do an Ultra. He’s not that old and could probably win a bigger name one.
I met him awhile ago. I was about 185 at the time. He was a little thicker than me mainly because he’s younger. No way he was anywhere close to 250. At most 200.
"Keep things feeling light and tight…now that I’m running at 167 lbs compared to my pro running days at 137 lbs every once matters (especially on the end of a pendulum like one’s wrist when running). Loving the lightness (just 35 grams) and functionality of my @Suunto watch. Hardly know it’s there..."
That watch sounds amazing. So light! I never thought about that before. I have a cheapo watch and it must weigh a good 8-10 lbs, like most watches.

He's 5.9/167. So this is what AI says:
"A person who is 5'9" and weighs 167 lbs has a BMI of approximately 24.724.7 24.7 , which falls into the "Normal weight" range of 18.5–24.9. This BMI indicates a healthy weight, but it's important to remember that BMI does not distinguish between muscle and fat. For a more complete picture of your health, it's also helpful to consider other factors like body composition and waist circumference."
Ghost1 word: He's at the top end of normal weight with a BMI of 24.7, with 24.9 being the top end of "normal"
"Overweight" starts at 25.00. I think obese is 30.0+ BMI
I think he finally looks normal post-retirement and am happy that he seems to have found a love for running again. He has publicly said many times that he was too light during some of his pro career because he was trying to "look like the Africans" and had low testosterone. Then of course he went crazy with the body building and stopped running entirely. Now it looks like he's found a healthy medium though he is running some pretty crazy long stuff in the mountains, just another facet of his wackiness I guess.
re: "look like the Africans". My first though when i watched his meta post showing him running was: man, he's got Kipchoge legs! Super long thin tib/fib, an inseam that looks uncommonly long for his height, supported by efficient ropey muscles. In short, he still looks built to run long distances and make it look easy.
Would love to see him make a comeback and try for some AG records like Tommy Hughes did. Bekele's 40+ is out of reach, maybe 50+.
Hall was obviously doping during his bodybuilding days. He would not have passed drug tests. He was taking at least 3x the legal amount of testosterone.
A lot of people are saying - Let’s be honest a guy who would dope for vanity purposes and a hobby would dope for a contract, prize money and recognition as a competitive athlete.
I'm pretty sure I heard in an interview he messed up his hormones from being underweight and training so hard during his marathon days. He might needed to use TRT to get back to feeling normal after years of training crazy hard.
He probably stopped the high dosed because a doctor told him he will die otherwise.
I’m in my 40s and live in an affluent neighborhood. Guys hand each other TRT for free cause they look tired. Getting PEDs is easier than getting an oil change on my Porsche.
Hall wasn’t on a little TRT when he got huge, he was on a lot. More than likely a lot more then just TRT.
Hall is one of the biggest “me” guys I’ve ever seen. Remember when he fired his coach so Jesus could coach him?
The guy is looking for his next grift. Then say he did it for Jesus
Whatever he was doing to produce that type of muscle mass makes me question his IQ and overall intelligence. I can tell you what he was doing was for sure quickening the road to meet God. What he said as doing was making him look muscular but also dropping his longevity by about 40 years!
Dude has a degree from Stanford so I would thought that he is at least super smart.
Dude has a degree from Stanford but can't spell "scraping."
