Prenats no longer showing a b race on the timing site. Are they allowing large squads in the a race or planning to run b races that aren’t listed yet? Or are some athletes just going to get to race?
We raced there last week (Brian T Simpson Invite). Columbia got rain Thursday and Friday and the grounds staff were stressing out big time, they coned off all the corners and even threatened to cancel the meet. By the end of the college races on Saturday, the course was pretty torn up. My guess is they're trying to limit the number of racers on the course so that it can recover for D1 nationals. They still have to host the MO State meet there too.

I heard they’re combining the A and B races because a lot of teams had to pull out. Unless there’s a tornado Saturday morning, moving the meet an entire day sooner was not a good decision in my opinion.

And now Rojo has been vindicated.
I heard Penn State is out as well.
Did they not realize people had flights/hotels already booked?
I kind of get it. These institutions are risk adverse.
But I think people would be much more understanding if they just stayed the course and tried to hold it Saturday. If Saturday ended up being awful, then you just say, "Look we can't safely hold the meet." People would understand.
But it's extremely rare for thunderstorms to last all day. Normally it's a few hours.
Is there something about the course that makes it wildly dangerous where 1.25 inches of rain would make it extremely dangerous? Is this some Hurricane Sandy type event?
I remember being at World xc in Poland one year and thinking to myself, "The NCAA xc coaches would be complaining about how unsafe this course is and no one here is concerned at all."
Can we get a full list of teams that have pulled out?
can some one please explain to me why XC coaches are so afraid to run their teams until the very last chance at the end of the season?
7 races (including NCAA's) is a solid season. Of course, not all teams can or will qualify for NCAA's, so adding a meet in somewhere would fill out the schedule. If you look at your top programs, most run approximately 7 meets a season. Usually, most of the top programs will train through the first few meets or so, and then hit it hard the middle of October to set up for regionals and NCAA's.

The rule is 5 races including conference to qualify as completing a season.
Coaches make this even less by a- running B teams at early meets or b- scheduling 2 meets on same day with A team at one meet and B team at another. The first 2 races are usually quite non competitive as well.
You are correct that a team that runs 5 plus regional/national has 7 meets.
I'm not aware of any teams that schedule extra meets to make up for not making ncaa.
In a special live edition of our Friday 15 podcast, we'll break down the two biggest regular season NCAA cross country meets of the year for you. Normally th...
Colorado is missing four of their top six: Secor, Prosser, Jones, and Dorenkamp. The last two are transfers who haven't run this season. Secor was their 1 at Gans Creek and Prosser was their 3.

Parker Valby ran 19:17 on a blustery rainy day with mud and standing water in some places on the Thomas Zimmer course in 2023.
Will Longisa challenge that time today?
And will Tennessee freshman, Mary Ogwoka, who lost within 1sec to Longisa at Gans Creek, run faster than what she ran at Gans Creek, to a new course record?
