i dont care that they are a private school. I care that they brought in 5 of the best boys from within an hours drive as transfers all at once. I'll be rooting against them at NXR SE. I'd rather no NC teams go to NXN than have Christ School go.
I agree. Would be nice to see McCallie finally make it this year. Last few years they were close but never quite got there. They have 6 seniors on the team now, so it seems like this is their last chance unless they get plenty of transfers at the same time in the future.
Sure, McCallie has a couple of transfers that came in at separate years, but I’ve never seen a team that brought in like 6 new transfers during the same season. I think maybe Loudoun Valley might have, but some of those guys didn’t make their top 7 right away or ever
London won with 3 transfers but I think they were all out of state. It is one thing when you are moving to a new area and factoring that in. It feels a bit different than pulling in all the local talent…
I look at my area and if we could make an all star team out of our conference (call it 30 mins) and we could be a potential NXN team(7 guys sub 16 but not sure we have the low sticks as they are all 15:30-16:00 guys.). I expect the same is true in any high population areas.
I heard Randy Ashley on a podcast and he sounded like a fantastic coach. I think he's very aware of the benefits he has at this school. He has the resources of a college program, but none of the pressure that comes with collegiate coaching, especially these days with unknow roster spots, transfers, etc.
Randy Ashley made the kids do push ups between reps if they were off pace. I'd hope he's aware of the benefits of getting 4 transfers to carry your team to NXN, cause he better not be taking the credit
Coach Randy Ashley discusses his team's victory on Saturday at NXR Southeast in Cary, N.C. Royal Pines Distance Project (Christ School NC) won the title with 72 points.
Well Christ schools worst improver is Jack Dennehy with only 25 seconds dropped, but he just placed 24th at NXR so I’d expect more out of him, so the coaching definitely is good. Brooks Barbee went from 17:50s to 14:59 in 2 years at Christ school, if that’s not coaching I don’t know what is. Just because you don’t like that the kids got other kids to transfer doesn’t mean you have to make bad takes. Randy Ashley in his interview said the kids got one another to come, that isn’t recruiting but networking. Keep crying

well for one no one ever said he was a bad coach, just that this is a typical rich private school luxury that public schools can't do. People dislike when private schools recruit in every sport.
I'm sure all those kids just talked to each other and all of their parents were happy to pony up full price because they kids networked. I'm sure no money was offered to recruit the parents to go along with the idea. I'm sure.

And then when their workout pace is too fast this is what happened

Sorry that their parents are rich enough to send their kids to a private school for a good education and running carrer.
Who cares. It's a private school for boys. Minimum cost to attend is $36k/year. $70k/year to live on campus.

Next year will also be a great year to root against them, hoping they don’t win nationals

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

So did their parents not care about their education during their freshman and sophomore years?

I think the point here was that their parents are only doing this because they aren't paying the 70k for the kids to board, not the other way around. I would find it quite coincidental for all nine guys to have that kind of generational wealth in their families
