Donovan Brazier not making it to the final of the 800M.
I disagree. His comeback season was a sensation. USAs victory and 1:42. It was a miracle even if he never runs another step. To set the bar for Brazier so high, that him not making the final is your pick for biggest disappointment…is unfair.

I'm glad Brazier is back- I never thought he'd compete again. I was even suspicious if his 1:44 was enough to consider him 'back'
But with his talent and experience and then the times he dropped, he had no reason to run so poorly. He and his coaches were clearly in no rush to bring him back and I have to imagine he was 100% ready to go.
Time didn't take him out of the final, his racing strategy did. That is a disappointment to me
As a man I really dont like or care about women's running, but I would think for most logical people the greatest disappointment was definately the media shoving the camera in Sidney mcglocklins face for long periods of time just to take away all focus from Femke Bols amazing victory in the hurdles. The whole decision for mcglocklin to run the open 400 was nothing but a dodge, because she knew what type of hurdle shape femke was in.
No need to comment on hocker. It was obviously a set-up by the powers-that-be.
None of the top marathoners in the world were in the road race.
Have to disagree with the 1500 being a disappointment, if anything, it's the most interesting one in recent years with a surprising result. Wightman completely showcased his tactical brilliance there, always running in the right place. It's just that Nader was too strong. The Chrueoyot brothers were also doing a great job there.
Let's face it, while the winning times were way faster with Jakob in it, the plot was always about him bringing it out from 1100 (or even leading wire-to-wire in Paris), and then "next guy" trying to neutralize him with 200 to go. There's not much suspense there.
None. I don't belong to a gossipy old ladies bridge club, therefore I don't have any expectations for others doing something that I don't have a vested interest, input, or control over. I seem to be able to enjoy the reality of athletic events for what they are, not what I think they should be. I've never been compelled to scan the results of an effing track meet for the purpose of denigrating athletes who are performing at a level that I've never been close to.
It's easy for me to appreciate the brilliance of a sixth place finish in a world championships. Heck, just getting there is a major accomplishment. Only the best of the best ever get to do it. Even competing in the "baby conference", as pathetic as it is, means you're striving to be something better than you are. As your own athletic experience has proven, you really can be better than you are. Your unreasonable expectations of others can be better, should be better.
Seriously, wejo, you should try it. It's better for your soul. Happiness means never having to say "goes home devastated" or "choked."
This is pretty much spot on.
"Goes home devastated" is such a trite and tired expression. If someone can't make the world championships and "go home devastated," they're doing alright. The phrase is disrespectful to the athletes.
Well, maybe she didn't go home, but Sha'carri was devastated.
