Are there any 800 or 1500 runners who could beat the women's 200m world record? I doubt it.
But there are certainly quite a few who can beat the women's 400m world record. And quite a few who can't, too. It would be interesting to make a chicked list.

There are absolutely men’s 800m athletes capable of 21-low in an all-out 200m. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Lutkenhaus could do that right now, and he’s not even the most obvious candidate.
Any 800 runner who could run 46-flat for the 400 could do it.
"Three weeks ago, Kerr ran his fastest 200m rep ever in a workout — 22.4 at the end of a speed session Mackey used to use with Nick Symmonds (150-300-150-200-150-200). Mackey was pleased, because with how fast the top guys have been closing this year, he knows Kerr will need a good top gear in Tokyo."
Wow!
LRC Note: Please link to the article you are talking about. Here it is.
Coe and Ovett were reportedly 21.7 runners. Coe could run 45 mid for a 400 rolling start so he might have been capable of getting near 21.3.
Thanks for that bit of info. Yes the modern generation of runners are reportedly slow arses on super shoes and tracks compared to the 80s and 90s era lol!!
No LRC distance expert has yet to explain the deficit in the face of such awesome technology without accusing them of using EPO to the gills 😂 .
When all is said and done these same guys are going to finally kowtow before me and admit defeat that it was man made electromagnetic fields some of which weaponised that made the difference.
Its sad how these so called distance experts are so blind and insular in their vision.

Sure!! Kerr is still my pick for the win in Tokyo just because he has experience. Laros is untested in the rounds and he might be tripped and fallen over with a nasty cut.
This is really impressive and it definitely serves to motivate me to push myself harder than I have been recently; I’ve been slacking a little. Thanks for posting this!

Absolutely no chance he ever could have run 21.34 from the blocks, no chance.
He ran 45 mid for a 400 in a relay. That suggests he could be in the 21-low ballpark for the 200. Previous 800 runners who could run 21 were Tom Courtenay (Melbourne champ '56) and George Kerr (bronze at Rome '60). Both were 46 runners over 400. Coe could easily have done that, given his 45x relay leg.

Um, no " could" about it.
400 m: 46.87 (London 1979)
He hardly competed in the event. As I said, he ran 45x in a relay. That translates to a 46-flat out of blocks. Other 800 runners who could do that were 21 sec guys.
Expected... That is a solid time. I was slower then Kerr obviously I was a 3:45 1,500m runner. I would train with my colleges sprinters when I was getting ready for relay's and ran 22.05 for a 200m out of blocks. However, I was considered a distance runner but realistically I was probably an 800m runner just never really ran it accept twice outdoors 1:53 as a Sophomore and 1:52 in the rain and wind as a Senior. I split 47.9 during a 4x400m but also ran 29:05 for a 10000

Ironic that George Kerr was one of the greatest 800 runners and now 2 generations later we have Josh Kerr on the way to another WC gold. I can't wait.
I saw Keer 3 weeks ago and he didn't look that lean. If he is as lean as he has been during the champs the past three years I'd say he's on something. Maybe Ozempic?

Tons of 800m guys could easily beat the women's 200m WR. Not even up for debate. ALL of them could beat the 400m WR.
