The suspension was issued by AIU but ADAK was the one Kandie refused to be tested by. If ADAK and AK wanted they would have cleared him also just like the Ethiopian federation did for Welteji
Do you have a source for that? I can only find that the (provisional) suspension came from the AIU (without details thus far). It would be strange if it were an ADAK case - like other NADOs, ADAK has a history of making and publishing their own bans.
At least this explains why Welteji hasn't raced since Prefontaine and pulled out of a few subsequent meets in the final days/hours. She has no social media presence so it's been nothing but silence.
I've always liked her but under these circumstances she can't be allowed to run. Welteji is not only a medal favorite but her stalking style alters tactics and positioning of others who prefer that tactic also, like Hull and Chepchirchir.
It's been a strange season for Welteji because she has not run an outdoor race outside of Grand Slam Track and Prefontaine. Reporters should be on this story to find out where the balked test occurred and the circumstances.
Knighton tested positive for a substance and said it was tainted meat. Welteji blantantly refused to be tested. ADAK suspended kibiwot kandie the very day he refused to be tested despite the embarassmentt AK would face kandie being a WR holder. Many people here critisize Kenya but atleast they are strict when it comes to catching dopers.
Many other countries i have seen a trend where they make excuses for dopers. Absolutely no reason a clean athlete would refuse to submit a sample to be tested. An athlete who refuses to be testes ahould be suspendee immediately. Now i see the reason why its only kenyan athletes being suspended. Smh
Kenya is the least strict nation on the planet when it comes to catching dopers. Kenya might, might have fielded three or four clean athletes since 1987. And the odds are against that.

Would like to know the details but obviously if there’s any trace of corruption and not just a misunderstanding (language barrier etc.) it doesn’t feel right that she should compete.
I expected a lot more than 3 pages on this topic, after the news has been out for nearly 24 hours. The paltry number of comments is further reminder of how underrated Welteji has been. She was #10 ranked female in the world at one point and has dropped to #32 recently only due to lack of racing.
Whether she did any of it legitimately is now open for question.
Welteji has had frustrating 4th place finishes in major races, the Eugene world championship 800 in 2022 and Paris 1500 last year. I hope she didn't make a stupid choice in an attempt to bump that level.
You talk about Trump derangement syndrome and then say you just don't want Hiltz to medal on a thread about a corrupt sports administration covering up an athlete dodging a test...
CAS sides with AIU and Weleteji has been provisionally suspended and won't compete at the World Championships. (Per CitiusMag on Instagram an hour ago)
When athletes of her level as well as that of Knighton are caught it shows yet again that doping is at the top of the sport and could be anyone now. There will be many more who aren't caught.
*cough*...Certainly these athletes have no intention of enhancing performance. The system is broken. She was likely aware of the flying pigs out there, spreading PEDs all over the place, and didn't want to be another victim of the Presumption Police.

Welteji wasn't "caught" for doping.
No one ever doubted the existence of doping at the top. There was always a chance that anyone could be doping.
Time to investigate Ethiopia like they do Kenya. It doesn’t seem believable that there have been so many doping positives from Kenya while Ethiopia has only had a few.
