Yes, Taoufik Makhloufi at the 2012 Olympics dropped out of the 800m to focus on the 1500m and he had to claim injury in the 8 to be able to run the 15, which he won in a dominating performance.
Ok, so Jakob will simply have to say that he’s sick the day of the 1500m heats. It won’t seem unusual. He always says that he’s sick at WC/Olympics
What. He wasn't sick at the olympics and he never claimed that he was sick. He frontran 3:28
He's the most vulnerable he's been in his entire pro career -- going into a championship. Doing a double just puts him in reach to get crushed -- he has no idea where his fitness is without even a single race leading to this event.
Yes he’s vulnerable, but no, he knows exactly how fit he is. Enough that’s he’s willing to give it his all. He’s Mr. Lactate test strip and he’s got unlimited access to whatever technical/medical assessments he needs..and I am not suggesting PEDs.

Why don´t you provide some evidence for him claiming illness at the Olympics!? AND when you can´t are you man enough to admit your ignorance?
WCs: He had Covid in the Indoor 1500m final some years ago and was ill in the 1500m final in the 2023 WC AND in the subsequent heat and final in the 5000m. That´s all.
He never claimed illness in the 2017, 2019 and 2022 WCs. (Did you know that he competed in 2017 at the age of 16?).

Nonsense!
He ran low 3:45 in the mile (= mid 3:28 in the 1500m) in February coming directly from base training. Why should he be worse now (provided he gets no achilles setbacks)?
Nah I Think he’s got it still somehow. 3.30.28 on August 21. And then he shouldn’t do Well in the middle of september? I have a feeling he Will do really Well even though I agree that they very Well might not have expected worlds
hes run a championship with rounds when exactly?
right, never.
BUT he won the 1500m final AND the 3000m final at the same day in the recent U20 Euro champs. He seems to recover quite well.
Jakob has full control over his fitness level. Without a doubt. 10 years of measuring his lactat during different intervall session, tells him precisely what his body is capable of.
with zero races beforehand, going into a championship with potentially 5 races
you dont even follow what he says that closely, obviously
little different coming out of the box all out with a good performance at Pre after being injured vs running rounds where you have no idea where you are at as far as fitness
capability 1 day vs a championship is apples vs a holes
Nonsense.
As the poster stated: Jakob knows quite well where he is when it comes to what you call "fitness".
I would rather call it aerobic capacity which will be unchanged higher than all of his competitors´ which is why he always goes through the heats easily.
Or do you think his very high level of aerobic strength accumulated over the last 15 years is suddenly wiped out just because he had to do alternative AEROBIC training for some months?
Laros and Hocker are the complete opposites of late bloomers. Laros regularly beat Jakob’s age group records. He finished 5th at the Olympics as a highschooler.
obviously talking about their peaks in this particular season not their progression

I love JI as much as anybody and think the sport is infinitely greater to watch with him in it, but yall are fanboying at Dear Leader levels lol

Ok, great then, I guess we should expect to see him on both the 1500 and 5000 start lines
