Yeah this means close to nothing. What does it say it “is the same as” for an 800m or a half marathon? You see how meaningless this is?
It does mean something. Both of those distances are within Ingebrigtsen’s wheelhouse. Comparing him to 800m\HM is meaningless, though.
You are incorrect. Jakob has run 12:48. It is so odd that I have to point this out. Jakob has NOT run 12:30 nor has he ever been capable of it. Jakob’s profile is closer to Hicham’s than it is to Kenenisa’s, so please educate yourselves.

OK, but two 5000m Golds is a pretty good indicator he can run much faster than 12:48. Here on LR the many people make the ignorant argument that Ingebrigtsen somehow maxed out five years ago in the 5000m even though he has improved significantly at other distances.

Yeah I am extremely smart. So what? I have already said Jakob had 12:33 in him at his peak. So what? He will never do it.

You have to be great at both the 1500 and 5000 to be great at 3000m, that much is obvious. Ingebrigtsen is far faster than Komen ever was in the 1500/Mile. With wavelights, Komen runs 12:35 probably. Since Jakob is better he probably runs 12:32-12:33. That’s my guess.

Yeah, so what, is right. Not withstanding his recent injury problem, he’s still at his peak. Your argument is 12:33 and not 12:30? That’s a pretty precise take on his potential.
Really smart people never brag about it. We can read your posts and reach are own conclusions.

Alternatively, you have to be good at both 1500 and 5000 but if 3000 is your best event, you don't have to be exemplary in either. It's not the same level, but I've seen multiple people with PRs like 3:47/8:00/14:02

You are obviously a mediocre person. Your comment about really smart people never bragging about it shows me you have never been around really smart people.

He doesn't run anything until he has done it. An athlete with recurring Achilles injuries is not going to run his best possible time. 12:35 remains out of his wheelhouse.
