You are being illogical. The dopers are the ones who can maintain top form for months on end without suffering a drop in performance level. Clean athletes have to carefully time their peak.
Dopers also peak when they dope. They don't always dope all year round. So it doesn't necessarily mean they perform at the same level throughout the season. Hocker's win in Paris was a red flag. If he wins in Tokyo it will be a klaxon.
Only to illogical haters like you.
Genuine question: Why do you follow the sport? From what I've seen, you think all the top runners are doping, and you don't seem to like any of them. Do you just enjoy being miserable?
Hocker's 3000 PR shows he is significantly stronger than Laros. That will help a lot in a meet with heats and (very competitive) semis.
I expect Hocker to do the same thing he almost always does: sit on the rail and try to pass on the inside. I don't understand why this strategy works so well, but it just does.
It works well because if your in lane 1 you generally are going to be passed on the outside so runners almost universally creep out to the outside of lane 1 to force anybody coming from behind to swing further out. That has always been good tactics but Hocker seems to have discovered that gives him a gap on the rail to pass. Looks like a change of tactics is needed.

If that's your view then all those who are opposed to doping in the sport must "enjoy being miserable". On the other hand, we may simply prefer a clean sport.

I believe there are top runners who dope, and I believe there are those who don't. If I thought ALL of the top runners were doping and didn't like any of them, I wouldn't keep following the sport.
Logically, what exactly do you think you're accomplishing by accusing all the top runners of being dopers? How does that contribute to a clean sport?

Don’t forget Jonah Koech, who closed a 3:30.17 in 25.7 and 12.5 a month ago. And, of course, we can’t ignore the 3:26 guy, even if he hasn’t raced since indoor.
Most under the radar contender. I give Koech the same winning odds as Hocker or Laros.
He’s only run the event twice. One of them with a bum hamstring.
And his bum hamstring has been even more bum. Why in the world would we think an also-ran in the 800 would win the WC gold in the 1500 when he can't train for it?
That's the most plausible strategy for victory and would be similar to how Paris went.
Laros is the the favorite at this point and Cole is perhaps the only competitor that can out kick him on the home stretch.
If someone like Kerr tries to take it with 300-400 to go, Hocker should still stay patient and react to what Laros does.
It is VERY unlikely that Kerr will go from 300-400m out.
Kerr has only done something similar in The Bowerman mile 2024 when he frontran the last 600m BUT.... I don´t think will dare to try that in the WC final (if he is there) because multiple guys can draft on him and kill him in the finish.
Who could outsprint Kerr in that scenario:
Laros
2x Koech
2x Cheruiyot
Hocker
Habz
Nader
Strand
Jakob (provided he is healthy)
These runners must be in their best shape. Some of the mentioned will, however, probably not reach the final (there are always surprises).
I'm tired of threads being derailed by poorly thought out drug accusations.
Think about this logically. If Hocker is able to dope and get away with it, why wouldn't he dope all season and win everything. The idea that someone peaks when it matters most is a sign they most definitely aren't doping. We've seen his form improving all season long.
This. There is always a small openings presented. And Hocker is as good as anyone has ever been at accelerating into those openings. Maybe his greatest strength.

I think it’s more luck than a skill. Ingebrigtsen could have blocked him last year.
Kerr, Laros, Koech, Jacob all know exactly what Hocker is going to do. They all know that once they round the final bend, their main threat will be on the inside rail.

3:30 to 3:27 in the span of a month textbook suspicious. Hilarious.
