This is ridiculous. Do we start with the President of the US and make his citizenship conditional on good behavior?

I don't think we should take away citizenship once given, but the citizenship process should take a LOT longer to get. I had a thread about this a while ago.

Hey no one is perfect. He was very supportive of community running programs, raising money for running programs for young runners who couldn't afford shoes. He always said Hi to everyone he saw on local bike trails. The haters on this thread can say what they want, but his impact to our local running community will never go away. He has coached many runners in the area, youth to masters.

Robert- Good question to ask if Biwott was on EPO or not going back a number years. Similarly, Asbel Kiprop and Wilson Kipsang were dinged relatively late in their careers. Did all three start getting “assistance” to stem inevitable age related decline or do we take the cynical route and label them serial dopers?

As for NCAA v NYC? Are you assuming he was clean at the NCAA, or doped all the time and then decreased his dosages when he became pro and the testing got a bit more serious?

Asking when Biwott started doping is a good question. Did he start doping in Kenya before coming to the states? Was he using banned substances his entire time at Oregon? When he ran third place at Boston?

After Zane Robertson got caught in 2022, he claimed: "he only recently started doping, calling it a “one-off” that was the result of many things."

I think calling for the revocation of Biwott's citizenship is completely inappropriate, but I absolutely want him staying away from track and field for the rest of his life, and especially younger athletes. Some previous posters said it was a positive that Biwott has served as a coach, but at least to me, that makes the entire thing much worse.

I don't know whether Biwott was doping while he was at Oregon, my guess is probably not, but at this point would anyone be surprised. Someone should be trying to figure out when he started and where, from a coach?, he was getting banned substances.

But, that person should absolutely NOT be Mr. Mackey or another ICE agent.

People need to realize most if not all pro runners are doping. Sad but true.

It’s a sad way for him to end an otherwise decent career. Worth noting he had been tested quite regularly in competition in the years leading up to 2024. Doubt he was doing it for very long before he got caught.

So this means that when athletes disappear for a year or so, or claim they are injured and "out for the season" it's possible they are actually fighting in a court against a ban. And that if they win the case, it is not reported that they failed a drug test? Am I right in this summation?

There is so much wrong with this. You cannot establish a set of rules for immigrants and a set of rules for birthright citizens. Immigrants are afforded the same set of rights as everyone else. If you say this then you need to be clear that you think doping should be a criminal offense & you should argue that you want to kick birthright citizens out as well to not allow your biases to shine. But that's still a ludicrous position. You wouldn't expel someone from a country over this. You can argue for a stronger punishment, outside of the one imposed by the sport. On this topic, even someone who comes here undocumented has due process rights, although the Trump administration is pushing the limits on this. You come here and agree to abide by US laws. You also get the protections of the law. You cannot pick & choose when to apply these principles.

None of this is the main issue to me. I want more transparency. I don't want 1.5 years for this ruling to come out. I want names named. Who doped him? Where did he get the drugs from? How long has he been doping? I want everyone involved held accountable. Then I want whereabouts & TUES & even supplements (the latter would be hard to enforce) to be made public.

Also, speculation on when he started doping based on his PB is not a grounded line of thinking imo. He finished high up in major marathons without super shoes. Throw away the 2:12. If he ran Berlin/London every year his marathon PB would be a lot stronger. He ran 1:01 in the half pre super shoes. This is someone who has always been elite. He's beaten plenty of guys with much stronger PBs over the course of his career. He just started doping because he didn't catch Berlin on a perfect weather day the year he podiumed @ Boston? C'mon now.

He got third at Boston when it was 38 degrees and raining buckets.

It makes sense to keep it confidential because in the event there is a false positive or lab error that athlete will have been falsely maligned and their reputation in the sport destroyed.
