I don't think he has it in him this year. Look at indoors where he couldn't break 3:46. He is a bit down this year relative to previous years.
That 3:46 was the fastest he or anyone else in the history of Earth had ever run the mile indoors at that point in time.
After Jakob broke that indoor record with a 3:45, Nuguse tried to break the new one and couldn't do it, which is how I know that he was capped at 3:46 at the time and thus a long way off his 3:43 form. Now, you might respond that the mile start was delayed long enough for him to have to warm up several times and so he wasn't 100%, or that that performance is irrelevant because he wasn't in peak outdoor shape at the time. Either claim would be reasonable enough. But he wasn't close indoors and outdoors he has not been as sharp as the past several seasons, not even qualifying for the American team and being beaten by Laros. That's why I don't think he's in wr shape outdoors.
Light rain is hitting Zurich by 8 p.m., showers by 9 p.m., and then strong to severe thunderstorms later, so most of the meet should be fine, including the 1500m, which might not even have any rain. The 800m looks to be rainier. Weather conditions do affect racers differently. They also can result in much slower paces, which favors kickers.
I said he wasn't going to win, I predicted third place, but he just died at the end. There was no chance he was going to win this race, I have no idea why so many here thought he'd have a chance!

Bad season for the Goose. It happens. Frankly, after putting so much emphasis on indoors and then also racing Grand Slam, plus a few DLs, and hoping to stretch his season to mid-September, it’s no wonder he’s burned out a little. Time to take a month off to regroup. I think he ought to peak a little harder and race less next year.

Plus coming out of the closet and the TSwift news this week, way too much for one year.

I think running Brussels was a huge mistake. Could've benefited from extra rest and laying low in Saint Moritz IMO. Not to mention the psychological edge of having won your last race. Yes 1 and 2 also ran Brussels but different situations with Reynold likely based in Brussels (agent running meet), and Laros much more lightly raced.

I ageee. Did he need DL points or something? I can’t see otherwise why he would’ve run it.
2 points: Laros will never run 3:26 and more and more elite level runners are going to say no thanks to indoor season as it is just to taxing and makes the season too long; i.e Nuguse and Fisher.

It sounded like he was tentatively signed up because he had to be (if Silesia went poorly). From there, they were like let's keep it going and get a look at Koech/others.
