Cool video, thanks Jakob for the update.
My takeaways:
- He is progressing his training again, however, due to a small "irritiation" setback and caution, the risk outweighs the reward returning to upcoming Diamond League races, with the World Championships still being the goal he won't compromise on.
- Due to this setback, finding the correct balance between volume and speed has been challenging.
- While frustrated, he also seems quietly excited by the prospect of being the guy who turns up at the World Championships with zero races under his belt and a bullet in the barrel. Jakob is a thrill seeker and doesn't shy away from the impossible. The heat is on to make the start line fit and firing and to see what he's got. That's exciting.
Is Jakob qualified for both the 1500m and 5000m already? Could he literally not race at all and just show up?
I suppose him making the Norwegian team is a given. But does his 3:29 from this winter count towards qualification? Also, will he be given a direct qualification in the 5000m as defending champion?
