DB doesn't have the depth of conditioning yet, but he has a lot of racing savey and might be more efficient in getting qualified for the Final. I expect him to be in 1:42-high shape or better but that might not be enough
I remember watching the Trials in LA 1984 where fourth was 1:44, a great time in that era.
That was probably the same day that Ruth Wysocki held off Mary Decker, the first time an American woman had beaten Mary in quite a while. Decker had stunned the Eastern Block by sweeping the 1500 and 3000m. Unfortunately Decker and Zola Budd went down in the 3000m; fourth place was taken by my son's Middle School nurse.
Actually, fourth at the ‘84 trials was just under 1:44 - 1:43.92. Very fast for those days in the US.

Obviously Brazier is incredible and the closest comparison, but I think Miller actually has an edge in both 400m and 1500m.
Rewatch Brazier’s 3:35. It’s a covid time trial and NOT a solo effort. He’s got 2 guys (Ciattei being one) in front of him until the last 200m. Super impressive kick, but not sure if he could’ve done the same in Miller’s 3:35 race with more traffic and having to lead after 900m.
Wow. I can't believe how wrong my memory of that race is. Whenever I think about Brazier I remember that race and think, "man, remember when he solo'd that 3:35? What an animal." I can envision my false memory so clearly!
He's still an animal though
