Valby has raced a grand total of once as a pro. I can't imagine New Balance is too happy with their investment. They will probably give her another year since she dominated in the NCAA. Whether silent ban, injury, or whatever, its just bizarre to go completely radio silent and not even promote her sponsor. 6 weeks ago she posted that she had a foot injury, had been cross training, and expected to be racing again soon. At this point she should be thinking about some fall road racing.
I agree they are probably feeling like they got completely hosed. It would be one thing if she was actively using her social media following to promote NB, going to events, etc., but she's not. They paid her all that money and for what? So she could buy a McMansion in Gainesville and post bikini thirst traps from the beach?
And they have to outbid Nike for her. Nike has saved more than half a million dollars and sponsored Chris Bailey and Jacory Patterson which seems to be working well so far.

Is it weird though? Seems very similar to the dissolving of Bowerman. I guess there is the major difference that Coogan hasn't said that he has never heard of nandrolone yet.
My guess on Valby is a mental health break. Being in the right mental health shape is as important as physical shape. She ran hard for many months. My guess is she is back next year or not. She does need to learn to finish in 3rd place and be ok with it.
An injury might be 'minor' but if it never heals then you can't train properly. Maybe it's something relatively small but it just won't go away or keeps flaring up.

The only race she has done since the Olympics is an indoor 3k. It has been 13 months since she raced a 5k. Running careers don't last long. Throwing away an entire year for a mental health break would make no sense. The top athletes are extremely driven. If someone doesn't even have the motivation to show up to the most important meets of the year I doubt they're going to succeed in this sport.

Stop playing man, she needs to learn to finish at best 5th and be OK with it, no way she's getting on the podium anytime soon. Come to think of it, don't let me ruin you delulu.
Or maybe she is actually injured. If she has had something like a stress fracture of the navicular, and it flared up again in May, it’s feasible she is still injured or at the very least taking a conservative approach.
Parker Valby is too busy with auditions, singing classes, acting classes, CAPCUT classes, Mac Post Production classes, out the kazoo living the dream around Melrose & Highland.

I don’t really know about this sport. But is it normal for a professional athlete to not say anything about anything?
Let’s say the top tennis player decides not to go to the US Open. He usually makes a public statement saying something like “I am not going, my wrist injury has not healed up yet. So sorry I can’t be there. I will surely be there next year.”. Fans usually don’t find out by looking at the bracket and then speculate as to why he is not there on anonymous message boards.

She showed up at UPENN in June and took photos with everyone that wanted one. (except i missed it!) I wouldn't say she has just sat at home.
Her Instagram (from June) says she has foot injury and suggests its a recurrence.
Deadline is tomorrow at midnight. I assume she is not running.
The other thing I noticed was that she is 175x more elite than Livvie Dunn, and 2x as good looking. If she can get this pro running thing in gear...the sky is the limit. Just sayin.
