Maybe he kicked Narve to hard and that's why he has been running slower.

Gjert is an abusive personality. It's in his character. It also showed with his treatment of his daughter. Character doesn't disappear.
Even before this…I think with his 3 sons you could already argue Gjert was the best 1500m coach in the world. Then Nordas…now this. He may have his flaws but he knows how to coach.
I would love to see a some young no name American (3:35-3:39 type) pick up the phone and call Gjert to go train with him. It would be great to track his progress.

This guy went from 1:46.61 to 1:45.12. He was pretty much stagnated in 1:47 till last year I would say! the race itself was very strange, went 51.5 in last place and in the last 100/150 meters he just had a change of pace that was ridiculous!! I think if he was a bit more ambitious in the race he could had broke to a 1:44 time!! It’s incredible what Gjert is doing to this “kid”

Controlling behaviour doesn't have to be physical.
You said Gjert is an abusive personality. Do you think a coach determining an athlete's training and racing program is abuse? Are you equating determining an athlete's training and racing program with punching and kicking?
Nordas, Per Svela and this guy for sure. Whatever you have to say about Gjert, is there any other coach you'd put money on dropping a mid 20s guys PB by 6 seconds in one season?
