You are asking "why" somebody did something -- in a made-up story completely of your invention.
Sydney didn't drop out of the meet just a few hours before the start of the meet, which is when it was announced that she wasn't running.
The day of the meet she was at home, despite what some other posters are falsely claiming. So both Sydney and Kersee knew in advance of meet day that she wasn't going to be running, but they decided not to say anything until the last minute. That shows a lack of respect for the fans.
The least they could do is be honest with the fans and let them know as soon as they decided to pull her out of the meet.
Again, you are completely making things up. You have no idea when she decided not to run.
The fact she was at home during the meet shows...nothing.
If you are feeling sick the day before a meet, especially if the only symptom is a fever, it would be wise to wait until race day to make the decision to run or not. (Wide in terms of hoping to perform for the fans, who you say you care about in your post.)
Why would you then not be at home on the day of the meet?
She ran three grand slams, pre, and would have run a 4th grand slam if it didn't get canceled. She's done more than enough this year in my book, I don't really care that she pulled out of this meet.
No, she wouldn't have gone to Pre if GST LA would have happened, so it would have still just been the 4 meets. It's sad that you consider 4 meets, trials and Worlds "more than enough this year" for a professional athlete, but I guess that's where we're at now ...
She's a record setting professional athlete. Doesn't need to run every single race just to appease people like you. When it's time for her to come out and shine she does exactly that. When's the last time she didn't perform at a championship event? You're whining like a 5 year old that didn't get ice cream for breakfast.

This guy "Low bar" is really ignorant of the sport.
Since when would SEVEN RACES BEFORE NATIONALS not be considered a very early half to the season for a 400h athlete??
2025 races to date
Alison Dos Santos: 10
Femke: 8 (6 outdoor, 2 indoor relays)
Sydney: 7
Rai: 5 (4 outdoor, 1 indoor)
Karsten: 4
😂
Looks like she's at the high end to me!
But hey, I deal in facts and not irrational jealous hate.
Did she have a fever, or didn't she have a fever? If she did have a fever, why TF is she hugging a kid?
The problem is it's all cry wolf with Kersee. His past actions & lies mean we just don't trust him.
it could be they've decided the 400m flat is just too risky & she isn't showing the form they'd hoped, so it's back to the hurdles. In which case, ditch the flat race and get some technical training in.
That's most likely what happened. Kersee decided that Sydney wasn't in good enough shape for the 400 this year so he made up a story about her having a "high fever" and wanted Sydney to get in some hurdle practice instead of running the 400 at this meet. So why didn't he just come out and say that? Why invent illnesses?
That theory doesn’t fit the timeline and the photographic evidence that Sydney made the trip to Memphis. Kersee wouldn’t have had her fly out there and announced that she was attempting to break the American record if he didn’t think she was ready to run fast.
The photo with the kid was probably taken during the day on Friday. I’m guessing the fever symptoms came on Friday night. If she booked a Saturday morning flight back to LAX, she would have been able to make it back home in time to watch the meet.

Good post.
It's not rocket science. (Though it seems like some of the people yapping here have never travelled for work.)
- Athlete flies out to meet city Thu or Fri.
- Athlete does engagements Fri (e.g photo op with kids)
- Athlete feels unwell Fri night.
- Athlete still feels unwell Sat morning. Withdraws from meet, takes first flight home.
So, was she at the meet, or was she at home? Did she have a fever, or didn't she have a fever? Is that picture of her hugging a kid supposed to be around the same time as the meet? If so, and she did have a fever, why TF is she hugging a kid?

Kersee has done and said all sorts of crazy things. One time he had Athing Mu fly out there just for her to not run.
Kersee has also claimed that Mu could win the Olympic gold medal in the 1500, which she didn't even make an attempt to do. And a few years ago he said that Sydney was going to run a 400 a few weeks later to try to break the 47.60 world record and she never even bothered to run a 400 the rest of that year. That's just a few examples in a long list of ridiculous things he's done and said.
Only a fool thinks that Kersee is always telling the truth.

I don't recall ever saying I think Kersee is always telling the truth. I'm only speaking about the reason Sydney gave for not racing in Memphis last weekend. In my mind, it's very plausible.
Remember, Sydney's entry in the Ed Murphey Classic wasn't announced long in advance. It was announced after Pre. In her post-race interview at Pre, Sydney said she was disappointed in her time and knew that she was in better shape but didn't execute her race well. One day later, we got the announcement that she would be running in the Murphey meet. It's obvious that going to Memphis was a second chance for Sydney to put down a fast time while in her current form, before getting ready for the US championships.
Sydney went to Memphis with the intention of breaking the American record, and she said she had been training hard and was ready. Then she got sick and decided to go home. Why is that so hard to believe?

Right? It really doesn't seem like the conspiracy some of these people are fantasizing.
But for some the hatred runs so, so deep.
They would rather make up some zany story than accept that people...get sick and scratch from meets in the 1-2d before a race.

Sydney only ran in a few unknown meets in the US, that's the difference
Sydney has raced a full slate this year. Athing Mu is in another category right now. They may never run a lot of European races as long as they are with Kersee, but Sydney is mentally stronger now and is always good for gold at championships. Athing showed great improvement after her first 8. Another 3 second drop in the next month and she'll have a shot at winning USAs. Then another 1-2 second drop by mid-September and she'll be a favorite for World's, so hope is not lost despite the slow start.
I was surprised to see Teare (3:34.6) lose to Houser (3:34.5). 1500m is certainly not Teare's best distance but I expected him to run a bit quicker and win this.
Liam Murphy in 5th place, 3:37.4, was also a bit surprising. Not a strong race but he has had a long collegiate season and probably needs time off.

As mentioned it is possible that the race organisers requested her not to announce her withdrawal so early. This happens in the big city marathons all the time. We only know who drops out after the organisers give a press release. Heck, Fisher drops out of the 3rd GST at the last minute and no one gives a damn.
Waiting for 'weak post identifier' to have a hissy fit and respond, with the odd bold-type.
As I posted earlier, it will always be 'cry wolf' with Kersee's athletes because of his past antics of withdrawing athletes. Whether she was genuinely ill or nah, some fans will speculate. It is what it is.
Anyway, let's see what event she decides to run at the Nationals. There was a small sense she was leaning toward the flat 400m, but missing this race makes it less likely. Had she run & run fast, I feel she would have definitely run the flat 400m. But as it stands she still hasn't shown enough in that event to beat Naser & Paulino. So the likelihood is she runs the hurdles.
They have suggested she wants to do something special in LA28. I assume this means some kind of double. If she were to do a crazy 400/400mh double, I feel she would need a dress rehearsal at a Worlds first.
How come Warholm never gets roasted for his limited racing. Sydney gets roasted racing or not. But I would like go see Wafholm race more. I'm sure he'll be in Worlds but where is he now with all the racing events occurring.
