We have seen this song and dance plenty of time before... "young" Kenyan runner starts phenomenal times of nowhere, doesn't pass the sniff test. He will fade to obscurity as soon as he starts being tested.
Great run from Josh Hoey, was still a tiny bit skeptical of his performances, but if he keeps running fast with most certainly a lot more drug testing for him its more believable than ANOTHER no name "young" Kenyan out of nowhere... again.
Unfortunately, he is coached by Claudio Berardelli, like Wanyouni. Beradelli has his own blood testing machine in the camp to ensure that none of his athletes are quite glowing.
I came here to see you crying. You never disappoint :D
Smart dopers know how to progress slowly and methodically.
The stupid and greedy do these big flashy drops. This Koech "kid" (lol) reminds me of Ramzi, who went from 3:39 to 3:30 in one year. They can't help themselves.
I doubt Koech will actually get popped though. Most likely he'll be forced to "dial it back" like Kwemoi.
From zero USA active runners under 3:30 to 4 in matter of 2 years is wild.
Yared, Hocker, Hobbs, now Hoey. Remember when Yared set the record in June 2023 at 3:29.02? My goodness, seems like decades ago. USA's finals will be wild with these other pros / college kids in the mix.
Good points, I think that the rounds at the Trials will be tough because of all the good college guys that get better timing this year. And the 800 is super competitive also; will guys double or will it be too hard this year?
They should be banned as a nation from world juniors for repeat offenses and to uphold meet integrity. That would be more beneficial than a blanket ban for EPO proclivity.

Raphael Pallitsch just broke Austrian national record with 3:32.96 being 35 years old. Just missed out on the M35 WR held by Bernard Lagat with 3:32.51.
Why should we care about the age accuracy? It affects the Under-X championships but that is a good thing for catching doping because they get tested and probably get added more quickly to the testing list. And with Koech he can't now be an age cheat.
Cameron Myers turning 19 just 2 weeks ago has now run 3:29 and could run 3:46 at Prefountaine as a high school senior.
I will stay excited about our US prospects like Owen Powell, but damn, does this put Myers' talent level in perspective! I hope he keeps improving (as he has been).
You guys don’t actually believe that was only his second-ever 1500m, right? You know how many races in Kenya go unrecorded by World Athletics — probably more than we think. Also, claiming someone is over 20 just based on their looks is a baseless accusation. I know Kenya has had issues like this in the past, but it’s still speculation without evidence. That said, I could be totally wrong — he might be on PEDs and actually 25 years old — but we’ll never really know.

Wanyouni, Beradelli
Still too stupid to write easy names correct - after dozens of attempts.
