I don’t really care about any of the Ole alumni. I’m hustling here to say how thrilled I am that the MIAC is moving back to a neutral course this year as it should always be.
Como has been very clear that they have no interest in allowing the MIAC back. makes me curious what happened there.
Maxwell’s proposal to have Highland Park be the sole course for competitive neutrality makes the most sense. We shouldn’t have to go to the Northfield courses to race on their home turf that they train on weekly. And Chunko and friends wouldn’t fight that move so hard if he didn’t know it was huge advantage for St. Olaf and Carleton squads.

I don’t really pay attention to the men’s teams, but when was the last time a non-Northfield team was in the conversation to win the MIAC. This seems silly. Right now the best teams happen to have the best courses. Carleton women were dominant at Highland Park too. And Carleton is hosting Nationals next year. Why wouldn’t we want to take advantage of such a great course and their awards stand?
The Hamline teams of the mid 2000’s could run in a Pizza Hut parking lot and still win. The course doesn’t matter. Nostalgia is neat, but not always practical.
I think if the race was run around the campus of St. John’s they would have won by 100 points. Why are those MIAC coaches forcing us to run on championship courses that host national meets and have awesome indoor facilities nearby?
Also hearing we shouldn't expect much from the Oles next Fall as they are all in on trying to win the Drake Relays 4 x 800 and will spend the Fall focusing on even more speed development than usual.
Given what they did the in 4 x 800, not having a national caliber DMR is absolutely criminal. Probably second biggest failure of Chunko's coaching career. With having two top 15 finishes at XC nats and barely finishing top 20.
Doesn’t help when your mid distance and 800 runners stay on campus for cross but choose to go aboard during indoor. Can’t really blame power for his athletes bone headed decisions
I stood near him at State today. He is incredibly arrogant about what his athletes have accomplished and what “his team” Will do next year. And you would have thought he was coaching the St. Louis Park kid. Looked like an overstuffed peacock strutting around.

Man yer creepy
Also fairly certain he’s not even in the state. I talked with him at Sectionals and he said he wouldn’t be there so he planned to go to five or six sectional meets.
Perhaps not even attending the State meet in your own backyard should be added to litany of complaints. But that saves more recruits for the Johnnies and HammDawgs.
So the Oles are bringing in a 1:52 guy and return 1:51.32, 1:51.98, 1:53.38. Not to mention freshmen McInturff who split 1:53 at Drake and Bullock who split 1:54 at MIAC's. Seems like a good chance they can reset the new MIAC record and maybe challenge the Tommies stellar 800 crew. That is, if the assistant coach is okay with Power taking all the credit for his success and stays at St. Olaf. Wonder if any would follow him if he took a different job at a cities school?
If hes this incompetent and still able to double everyone else on the distance side in track and score 23 points in cross, I wonder how pathetic other programs around the conference must be. Little more running little less coping, eh fellas?
What a time for the 800 in the MIC! Ihrke, Lelinga, Bruer, and all those talented Johnnies and Oles. Will be fun to watch! Anyone else bringing in someone to add to the group?

Unlikely he ever steps foot on campus. Hearing Mankato is offering him money and La Crosse has offered him a roster slot.
We need more believeable falsehoods on this thread. Makes me sick that the bum ahh boys in this conference can’t make up a good story about the Oles these days.
