I don't understand the near-100% consensus this board has that the twins are destined to never make it in the sport. As for the claim of "not-outstanding high school talents," here is the list of high schoolers with a faster 1500/mile PR than Leo Young:
Hobbs Kessler 3:51.51
Alan Webb 3:53.43
Jim Ryun 3:55.3
Simeon Birnbaum 3:55.37
Colin Sahlman 3:56.24
There's three olympians, and two promising young talents, who haven't been subject to half the criticism that the Youngs have. Obviously Colin and Simeon have had better NCAA careers thus far, but have either of them done anything truly exceptional? Yet every time they run, you don't see people clamoring to be the first to say that they'll never amount to anything. And Colin came out of the same exact high school program, so was he also not an exceptional talent? Is the threshold for being an "outstanding talent" being Kessler-Webb-Ryun level?
I think people doubt the twins because they have very short legs for their height. They're the opposite of Nico, Simeon, Colin..who are lanky and 'look like runners'.
But Wanyonyi has a similar short-legged build and runs 1:41, so I guess the twins can still have hope
Wanyonyi does not have a "short-legged build" but he is short at 5'7".

In that pic he doesn't look stocky at all, you're right. Nick Symmonds is maybe a better example of someone with the short legs long torso build excelling at running

This is also a faulty argument because while, yes, neither L&L twin is as 6’1” Nico Young, Leo is the same height as Woody Kincaid, a 2x Olympian, and Lex is taller that both of them.
Regardless, instead of focusing on aspects of their body, they can’t change, Why don’t you just focus on their successes, what they’re doing well, and what they can do to improve their training?
Do we know how they’re training or why it’s necessarily wrong?

People with bulky muscles often appear to have shorter legs even if they in fact have long legs. The increased leg circumference creates an optical illusion.
Wanyonyi is totally the exception. His build is super unusually short and stocky, especially for such a fast 800m time. Compare to the other guys who have run around as fast as him, Rudish, Kipketer, and Arop, who are all tall and strong and have really long, muscular legs.
The elder Bekele has a short stocky frame. As did Mr. Prefontaine.
maybe the twins will never be 1:43 guys. But I can see them making a living as professional runners. Who would want that though when you have a Stanford degree and years of experience as YouTube creators.

Bekele wasn't stocky. Pre did bulk up after college, eh-hum, but he was rail thin mostly before that.
Ricardo Santos entered Lex Young in the steeplechase tomorrow... is this a smart move? Could it risk his season?
This is what I don’t get. Yall talk about these super shoes etc and yet my college records still hold. Lex Young doesn’t come close to my PR in the steeple.

Its not as bad as it looks. It appears that they are trying to revive a Cal-Stanford dual meet rivalry, much like The Big Game in football. With that in mind, knowing they would be doubling, it gave Lex Young a free roll to get his feet wet in a no-pressure situation. Mission accomplished. Move on.

Cole Hocker is also on the stockier/shorter-leg side for such a fast 1500 athlete. He is 5'10", however.

If super shoes make difference, it’s certainly not in a race that slow. Maybe he would have run 9:10 without them. Were he to switch to the steeple for the rest of the season, he could probably run in the 8:30s. Would that threaten your PR?
