Enough with "she had no pedigree." She qualified individually for NCAA cross 3 years in a row and was top 20 each time (finishing ahead of numerous future Olympians)
On top of the fact that she did it at a “small” school (albeit Centro Sr. being the coach).
Altitude isn’t for everyone, and she is older. If she moved only to fail personally and professionally … oof. Probably should have done it much earlier.
Could it be that she will be 41 in October? Maybe age has caught up with her.
Uhhh...YEAH!!!
40 plus years old and you wonder why? Training for an elite marathon performance at 40 plus years old, you literally wake up every morning and say, "WTF am I doing". My back hurts, my knees hurt, my Achilles are on fire, I feel like sh^t, etc... Yet you still go out and run long hard miles, run brutal long intervals and tempos (you tube video with Conner Mantz) hoping to find that mythical "runners high", and PB marathon time. It's like Sara Hall; she's traveling all over the world to race and train only to be the 17th overall woman? Doesn't she have like 7 adopted kids? At some point, you've got to stop chasing that "Runner's High", or whatever it is your chasing or running from (no pun) and move on with life. You can still run and train, but understand that your time is up, and the RACE is over.
Well, she's over 40 AND switched up her training/coach/living situation.
Her comeback at like 35 or whatever was incredible, but now she's over 40 and switching up her training trying to chase performances that probably aren't coming given that she's at the point where athleticism really falls off. Kinda seems like she was chasing one last hurrah, thinking grass is greener elsewhere, and not realizing she's at the point where aging is gonna make her go backwards no matter what she does. Shoulda stayed put with Raczko in VA.
I heard the Houston Marathon performance in February 2022 set off some alarm bells at USADA. It was simply too good to be true. This may come as shocking to a lot of people, but all USADA needs to do is look at age and performance curves to know if a person was doping. It was abundantly clear with D'Amato after that Houston performance, and USADA didn't want egg on their face if she got popped, so they increased the testing substantially as a warning to her. Her only good performance since 2022 came outside of the United States at the Gold Coast Half Marathon in 2023. Other than that, she can't blatantly dope and then race in the US, and she hasn't been the same.
Absolute BS. There were no alarm bells after Houston. Most distance athletes that call themselves professional are rarely tested out of competition. Their first test out of college usually comes at a major race. That would account for Keira’s test history. How many major races has she run this year where she’s been on the podium? To suggest there’s something “fishy” going on is pure BS.
she broke her foot. Was out for a good 8 weeks in the early winter and then had to build up to marathon mileage/workouts. I think she did well considering. She probably got 6 weeks of quality training.
When she came out to Australia in July in 2023 and ran 66:39 for a half I was very impressed. Watching that race and looking at her training on Strava I thought she was a real chance to make the Olympic Marathon team in 2024. That didn't happen and maybe she felt she needed a change which I thought was a little strange given the success she was having.
In RVA all of her training with SR was geared to her and maybe getting used to a new location, training program, training at altitude, age, and of course getting injured have played a part. This sport can be brutal when things don't work out. I know that she was very popular in the running community.
I hope she continues to enjoy and get the most out of the sport.

Time for her to throw her kid in some 5Ks and start a podcast.
She looked cooked in all the videos in Clayton's boston series. Then again so did Clayton, until he looked better towards the end. I know her snippets in there were brief, but workouts looked forced and not recovering well
Frankly she is going after it in training, it’s going to pay off in couple of years but at 41 things shift hormonally quick! She should be coached by Deena Castor
I think its fair to criticize her performance in Boston and recent training given that she is a professional runner, provided the discussion remains respectful. However until she decides to publicly share whatever may or may not be happening in her personal life, I do not think it is appropriate for people to be discussing it here on the message boards. The fact that you are following her online interactions and family's whereabouts closely enough to be generating these theories is also a bit concerning, and makes me question your motives for sharing these details.

Probably longer than you think. Even if her performances continue to stink (let's be real, they stink lately), she is a huge hit with the 30+ female demographic. She is also the poster child for super shoe responders. Keira probably has a better ROI than most Nike running/track and field athletes.
Same goes with Gabi Rooker. I couldn't fathom how she has a Nike contract, but she appeals to a large demographic (hey ladies take up running when you can no longer compete in another sport!) and is also a super shoe super responder.

I think you're right about Keira. In my area, suburban moms who run freaking love her.

Keira has a huge social media presence and is excellent at marketing the products that she endorses. She encourages and inspires the running community with her upbeat personality and positive attitude.
