It’s amazing that you’re still working out at 57. I think everyone admires you for having a pair of Supershoes and still working out. I’m over 45 and after running for a while, my back is much stronger. Much less painful.
Knee. I can walk 20k no problem. (In Supershoes!) But no pounding!
I swim now.
I'm early 50's and had a pretty bad back (disc) injury and was out of running for a year and a half. Just starting back up now. Like you I can walk without any issue.
Coming from a running background, it was a bit of a mental adjustment getting into the habit of daily walking, but it's not bad. I never walked 20K, but often did doubles of 4-5 miles a session. I never knew it before, but you can stay pretty fit and healthy from walking like that.
There was a biomechanics Phd student at BYU who did his research on whether supershoes could help cardiac rehab patients build fitness via walking. (Spoiler alert: Yes they can.)
Do they really hold up? If so, I’ll give them a whirl.
(Can't believe this thread got bumped.) 😂
Yes!! (Well, my Mizunos anyway, which I posted earlier in the thread.) Walking makes them last a while!
Full disclosure: I'm currently not in Supershoes. I live in a smallish town. I need to get My Man in the big city to send me a new pair.
I can't imagine that walking miles in super shoes is good for developing your feet, achilles and calf strength. Especially if you are only swimming on top of that.

Why?
I probably said this earlier - when I first put them on I felt like I was going to fall off them - ie balance. I figure any shoe that causes you to balance better cannot be a bad thing.
When walking in them I feel a midfoot strike. (I know that sounds strange on a slow walk.) I think that feels so much better for me than heel to toe.
