Manufacturing jobs of the 60s are not what is being wooed back to USA. It's mfg jobs for the future 50 years to get control if AI before someone else does.

I don't support these tariffs but I admit you actually make a really good argument. If Biden implemented a mandatory $25 minimum wage, us democrats would CHEER even though costs would go up significantly.
Automation and robots are massively changing the workplace. Amazon plans to replace 75,000 workers with robots (mostly in the warehouses.) In some cases other workers, including white collar professionals, will be replaced by AI though IMO AI is greatly over-hyped and will not be anywhere near as proficient as pundits predict (they are all cashing in on the "AI Boom".) Fast food is seeing robotic automation (though anyone who eats that garbage should stop.) You get the idea. The world is already a different place than it was 5 years ago and will change more.

Correct. And the reason is they are not as talented as the corporate cheapskates make them out to be. In software development most of the Indian programmers are from third-rate colleges and economically disadvantaged backgrounds (nothing against them, but they don't have the built-in advantages of being raised by successful parents.) The high-caste Indians get into finance, law, medicine and government with some small percentage going into high-end engineering.) Bringing hordes of Indian computer programmers over is like taking a team of 80,000 18 minute 5k runners to the Olympics expecting a podium finish.

Helping the American workers is more important than hurting corporations. Liberals have no plans to help workers, that's why unions supported Trump in 2024. Democrats most reliable voting block flipped and supported elected Trump to do exactly this.

It's a little bit more complicated than that. Stocks in consumer discretionary are also down because the average person isn't going to have any money to buy their products any more. Sure, that's bad for corporations, but it's also pretty bad for you for different reasons.

Although I am not a fan of either Biden or Trump, I think Biden’s Chips Act had a better chance of bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. than Trump’s tariffs. And all Trump’s Liberation Day has done is cause those who once were our friends to band together without us, creating alliances that will accelerate the fall of the U.S.
