True.
I believe there are many layers to unfold and not a clear case. And one can choose to look at it at many different angles. Was Gjert a terrible father? Most probably. He even admits it. But honestly, have we not all had our own little battles with our parents or father or mother?
Its healthy to move away from your parents when you are 20-25 years old, to venture n explore on your own. I think this might be the part that the Ingebrigtsen boys missed a lot. Being to dependent on their parents. So they are "overcompensating".
Somebody might object and say; " but Hey man, abuse is not acceptable". Well, agree but reality is not black n white n sunshine n fairytales. In my experience every friend's family i encountered had their stuff. Abuse, alcoholic, suicide, civil war horrors (somali friends), cheating, ugly divorces etc etc
i can go on and on. Im not saying those are acceptable, im just saying in real Life, thats the harsh reality for most people. Part of normal life. As I have experienced it.
Was Gjert a good running coach? YES, in terms of success. Top elite Sport is not about making friends or being nice. Results is the only true measure and No one can deny that he achieved.
You have to sacrifice to reach n achieve what Jakob has. Its not called blood, tears n sweat for nothing.
Im sure many coaches/trainers have stepped over the line while training would be Olympic medalists. I know one coach (pole Vault) that used to be pretty crazy but he mellowed. He has coached an Olympic gold medalist. So its not a "nobody" im talking about...
