Rylee also ran the 1200 leg for Santiago's national title in the DMR in 3:31. She was 2 seconds ahead of 2nd and 4 seconds ahead of 3rd only 24 hours after running 15:16.
In current form would she have won the NCAA indoor mile title? Wasn't the winning time 4:32 albeit in a tactical race? Is there any current D1 miler that is better?
Agreed - but gotta say, I’m not sure it would be close. Jane is the new Sadie.
Jane ran 4:26. Sadie ran 4:27. That's not a big difference. Also, Jane is better at running an even pace than Sadie is. If they both ran an even pace I think the race would be pretty close. In any case, it would be interested to watch.
Unfortunately, Jane is a Nike athlete and Sadie is with New Balance, so they won't run at each other's outdoor national meets, and Sadie isn't allowed to run at Arcadia because she doesn't run for her high school anymore. Maybe they will meet at Brooks PR?
I get it, but Jane just did that without being a miler and less than 48 hours after a national record 5K. It’s pretty clear to me she will get faster at the mile (Sadie will too, but she’s been racing miles with incremental improvement for 3 years now, so less upside left for her). Regardless, both are amazing high school runners with great futures!
Sadie will dodge her and won’t compete against her. Sadie also should be a freshman in college right now. He was held back or started school really late. She will be 19 when she start college never year.
There's no comparison between her form and that of the outstanding runners behind her in that race. That is what a pro looks like. She has an outstanding future. She ran 4:26 HSR essentially completely solo the same weekend as a 15:13 5000m HSR. Let her draft and run fresh against collegians or pros and she might run low 4:20s or scare 15:00 this year.

They raced each other last year at Arcadia. Sadie ran 4:34 for the win and Jane was 2nd in 4:37. Although Jane has clearly taken it up a level this year. It would be great to see them race in a mile this year.

I hope it's at Brooks PR. A straight-up duel for supremacy would be more entertaining than both being in the middle of a pro pack, if Jane were to join Sadie in some of the pro races she's planning (which I'm not even sure Utah HS regulations allow?). But I'm also wondering if Sadie is 100% at the moment -- e.g., she didn't race NBNI despite being there, and is not (yet?) listed for the 1500 at the TEN, although she'd previously announced she was racing these.

Who says Jane is not a miler? She won the mile at Brooks PR as only a sophomore. Of course she's a miler.

Sadie was born very close to the Ventura age cutoff. It's an academic disadvantage for kids to be born that close and it isn't uncommon for parents to hold their kid back when they are that close.

Yeah we def won’t see Sadie vs Jane at national meets.
Is it 100% certain that Sadie is not allowed to compete at Arcadia?
I’d offer the possibility of them competing at US Nationals but they have different specialty events; as good as Jane is at the mile, she’s even better at the 5000.
Seriously, you sometimes come off with some really dumb comments. You are more and more suspected to be the dishonest the430miler troll.
Nothing dumb about this comment. If you look at the race it is obvious Jane is more physically mature than most of her fellow HS competitors. As someone who started school early and graduated HS at 17, I always felt a disadvantage to students who were older, but the in the same grade.
As a parent, you have to consider that either your child will be younger than everyone in the class or older than most. A lot of times with boys, the academics and behavior and athletics are just too far behind that way. It's going very well with my kids but they'd be way ahead of where they are now, relative to their classes, had they not been the youngest in them.
