Boston is a nightmare for distance runners. Weather sucks , too much pavement and too expensive for most runners at the pro level. New Balance has never invested in a full team with support.
Boston is a dump for distance runners. The NB group a a small women’s only group with bad social media and no hype at all.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz !!!!!!
Training in Boston for Distance runners is like surfing in Iowa.
I agree. College track is one thing; being one of the best in the world is another. Valby does not have the talent for the latter. All the best training, teammates, and coaching will not make her outstanding. She's good but not great. Like Stanford's Young twins. Not meant for medals.

Hm, in the past year, St. Pierre won world indoor gold and set American Records for the indoor mile and indoor 3000, Mackay world indoor bronze, both made the Olympic team, McClean set the American Record for the indoor 1500, and Parker Valby won 6 NCAA titles and made the Olympic team.
Boring!😴
(I find it interesting how all the criticism of NB Boston started when Valby joined the group ...)
Track people are generally “boring” by nature. Valby is a little different at times (less boring) but track fans don’t like that, so she deletes the Instagram app from her phone. People generally suck.

I know you did not just compare an Olympic qualifier who is arguably the greatest collegiate female distance runner in history to the young twins when Lex and Leo didn’t even qualify for indoor NCAAs 😭
She’s training in Florida right now. She hates Boston. Make of that what you will.
Yeah, that’s very possible. We had a lot of very windy (i.e. miserable wind chill) days this winter. But I’d like to dispel the myth that the weather in the areais generally bad for running. It’s just not true. There are at least 2, maybe even 3 days a year that are ok 😀
You're all wrong. Distance runners in Boston - that is, REAL distance runners who can cover 20 miles - can run 15 of them out in the woods west of Boston.
Doesn't she already have the standard / world ranking equivalent from last season? Many top americans are not doing the Ten for that reason
I would like to see her run The Ten and shoot for something like 30:30. If she just runs USATF and the WC, she might not break 31 this year.
Why was this down voted. In 2021, Monson ran two 10000s, one at USATF and the other at the Olympics, and didn’t break 31 at either. You guys don’t want her to run at The Ten and take a nice chunk off of her PR?
Source: every sane person would hate winter training in Boston.
Every sane person would hate summer training in Florida
Every sane person would hate rainy season training in Oregon
Every sane person would hate winter training in Flagstaff, and having to drive an hour to do a track workout (with nowhere to poop), and having to drive to Phoenix and get on long plane ride for every single race
I guess the only logical place to train would be San Diego, yet oddly you don't see any distance runners based there. I guess they just get it done wherever they choose to locate.
Best training location is Davison Michigan. Perfect 55 degrees yesr round high altitude at one end of town and flat at the other for a great training environment
