aside from the weight issue here which seems like a very valid concern...im sort of wondering why this post was made? are people still fans of fiona and support her? maybe i was the oddball out but i think the entire way she handled the paris marathon drop out thing was complete bs and disgusting. she shouldve gave her spot to the 4th place alternate and i think she was very lame to run injured and then make a silly instagram post about the matter afterwards and not just own up to the fact she was a douchebag for not giving up the spot. why do people like her still lmao shes not even that good but the fact she ran in the olympics to drop out so early is inexcusable and rude to the alternate and for representing the US
Can’t say why the post was made, but can provide some insight into why I am rooting for Fiona (not in the NYC half but for her career in general).
She is clearly very unwell and has been for at least a year. I can tell you from personal experience that in the depths of an ED, people get desperate and you make bad decisions. In severe cases, the brain physically shrinks. I said and did things during my ED that I never would have even thought of when I was healthy. I am guessing that this, possibly in addition to pressure from her sponsors/contracts, led to what happened in Paris.
I want to be clear that I don’t think that makes it excusable behavior, but I do hope that Fiona gets healthy, apologizes to Jess McClain, and goes on to have a successful career. She’s obviously talented and seems smart, and if she gets her eating issues under control I think she might have a lot to offer.
All that said, it’s not going to happen if her coaches and sponsor don’t take a hard line, and fast. I can’t believe they are letting her race in this condition
