Please update us when Klecker runs a truly competitive race? Right now, he’s like the high school kid that “wins” daily workouts but then gets shelled off if the back in every race.
Big Deal. I've done 60x400 in 62/63. 20 reps (x3). Sets of 5 - 110 jog/rep, 440 jog/set. Once at 20 reps, 880 jog then repeat. Ran 3:52 before super spikes were a thing.
We get it. You your a fan of his. We can follow his strava too. Its a good workout, but does 64/65 reps (not even a pace that factors in an elite 10,000m) really deserve a new thread after you post one every few weeks on these message boards.
This pace for Klecker is faster than his 10k PB. Shelby's pace is slightly slower compared to her level of talent as I think she probably should only be 10% slower than Klecker. We know she time-trialed a 10k recently in around 30:30 in pretty bad conditions, and this workout isn't any faster than that.
2 min rest between sets for Klecker but Shelby only did 20 reps instead of 25.
Slightly more impressive workout relative to ability for Klecker, but workouts aren't races.
I know of a high schooler last year that did 24x400 w/30 sec rest and averaged 65.2. To put in perspective Jakob does this same workout and averages 60.XX. Both the high school kid and Jakob will do it all at once not sets.
The issue for me is that threshold workouts like this are not "pretty good" or impressive or great or terrible. They are by definition manageable workouts that are either done at the correct pace for the individual or slightly or terribly off the correct pace. Only he and his coach have a sense of whether a threshold workout was a good one.

This board is a joke. Now sub 27 10k pace is a threshold workout. 😂😂😂
Reminds me of a thread about a year ago in which the poster asked people which races they ran over the past year. The thread got about responses, the poster correctly concluded that most people here don’t even run.
good workout for a 16yr old. shocking for a world champs hopeful. 65s not even qualifying pace for the 10km and you actually need to be able to pick the pace up - he'll end up being the usual pacemaker until he blows up and trots home down the field
Sure, it is. How many 16 year olds can run a sub 13:30 5K?

Indeed. It took a lot of posts before this came up. Linked, not a single poster had mentioned what strava showed for klecker's HR in this session, and what this might indicate for the intensity (assuming no lactate levels included in the strava data).
I'm not a USA person and have no views on klecker but the idea that a man of his running level and experience would be blundering through a "wrong " workout seems highly improbable.
