I’ll be honest, if Geordie beamish was in that race, Jakob would’ve been cooked.
Um first point Beamish is a US based Kiwi so I don’t think he would ever run the Euro Champs. Second point he is an overhyped let’s run pin up boy who isn’t fit to lace up the spikes of JI. Third point he would rather make lame podcasts than race. Final point El Bakkali would beast Beamish 100 times out of a 100.
Who won the World Indoor Champs in the 1500m last year?
I think when people talk about Jakob having no kick, they mean it in the context of 1500 racing.
Anyway, although this race shows nothing of note coming from a runner of his calibre, I believe he does have a kick even in a moderately paced races just as the 2023WC Semi I mentioned. It's just that it in no way guarantees him a win/makes him head and shoulders above anyone else (that's why he chose to front run last year even though it didn't work out) because there're at least 3 people that could possibly do that as well (that's why he chose to front run last year even though it didn't work out).
If Mirus Yifter had run some 1500ms, would he no longer have been called the “shifter”.
Exactly. some of this stuff is hysterical....or moronic.
Ingebrigsten is not a 1500m runner. He's a 3000m runner with unmatched range. He is not going to be "a kicker" at 1500m while he is "a kicker" in the 5000m. If you can stay with him when he moves down to 1500m, you have a chance to win late. As the distance moves up, good luck staying with him....and if he stays with you at 5000m, you're in big trouble.
Is he the best ever over the 6 events he runs? Unquestionably. No one has his resume over 1500, mile, 2000, 3000, 2mile and 5000. Talk of Ingebrigsten not being a kicker when he is moving down to the bottom of his range is silly. No one is a kicker when they are moving down in distance.
Hocker would have flown past him. He won’t win Tokyo
Hocker is one those 'pop up when it matters' kinda runner.
He's planting potatoes for most of the year, if you get my gist.
Yup, we get your gist, that you are a moran. Hocker ran 3:30 or better 5 times last year. And his fastest race happened at the peak of his season, with perfect pacing. Maybe if you followed the sport you would know these things instead of calling every fast runner a doper.
This will be his year. I'm betting he'll break El G's world records over 1500m and mile (and Chep's 5k if he goes for it) and win the double in Tokyo, going undefeated all season. 2025 will be the year of Jakob.

Didn't you say the same in 2024?
Hi Armstrong. The air in the basement must be stale, why don't you crack a window? No, I did not say that. I never even said he'd win the Olympic 1500m. After he ran 7:17 I said he'd break the 1500m world record in Zurich, but he ended up being sick that race and got beat by Nuguse.

You are saying the same things for years. And getting your predictions wrong all the time.
Lots of people in here who have already forgotten that Jakob just ran the first sub 3:30 indoors, while on route to breaking the mile WR by one and a half seconds.

But you're sure you know the future. If you didn't pick his defeat in Paris I won't take your word for what you say will happen in 2025.

Is that supposed to be an argument that he has now acquired a kick?
The thing with Jakob is the ability to run the fast race and burn people off in the 2nd half. If you as a competitor are not willing to stay close to him on WR pace for the first half, he's gone. Clearly his toughest competition is in the 1500/mile, but I think Jakob is driven to really nail the outdoor WR this year, before he attacks the 5000 WR just like he did the 3000.
I agree Jakob looks as physically fit overall as he's ever been. He'll use that upper body to squeeze out every bit of speed.

It's just another step on his way to become the greatest distance runner in history.
